General Motors has been hard at work on the North American versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon and we know the trucks will be arriving sometime after the new Silverado and Sierra. Now it seems we have a possible timeframe of when these mid-size bruisers will be arriving.
The Detroit Free Press recently talked with GM's President of North America, Mark Reuss. Reuss revealed that introduction of the Colorado and Canyon would be timed with the introduction of the next-gen Ford F-150, which is expected to come out around late 2014 or early 2015.
“We are going to have a midsize truck that we launch right down the alley. When they bring out their F-150, we are going to have something no-one else has,” Reuss said.
That something will be a pickup that will be slightly larger than a current Toyota Tacoma and be aimed those who want a pickup to haul things around, but want better fuel economy.
“There is a buyer out there that doesn’t need everything that a full size truck does. We are going at it with Chevrolet on a lifestyle basis that will be quite different than a Silverado and we are going to go at it with GMC with professional grade capability in a little bit smaller truck with all of the fuel efficiency and fuel economy,” said Reuss.
