  • With a new Volt around the corner,General Motors announces a halt of current Volts

General Motors will be putting a halt on production of the current Volt starting next month. According to The Detroit News, General Motors will put the Detroit-Hamtramck on a six-week break to not only get the plant ready to build the next-generation Volt, but also reduce the amount of Volts sitting on dealer lots.

“First-generation Volt will stop building at the very end of May to get ready for model change,” said GM spokeswoman Michelle Malcho.

According to Wards Auto data, Chevrolet dealers currently have a 210-day supply of Volts. A 60-day supply of a vehicle is considered healthy. Through the month of March, GM has only moved 1,784 Volts, a 48 percent drop when compared to same time last year.

Yes but then the Hype about Volt 2.0 has made many decide to wait. Personally a VOLT 1.0 is still a good auto for everyone. I can see incentives to clear them out and many will end up with a sweet ride that they will love.

First 4-year plant model changeover I've heard of.  Do you think it will be long enough to clear out v.1?

For those that want one, I hope this new one brings real sales, not just love.
