William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 25, 2012 Two months after NHTSA opened an investigation into the 2011 and 2012 Chevrolet Cruze due to fires, General Motors has announced a recall for 413,418 Cruzes for the 2011 and 2012 model years that were built in the United States through May 2012. The recall affects the Cruze’s engine shield located underneath the engine. The worry is that any fluids that might leak from above and land on the shield could collect and possibly ignite

Previous Page Next Page Madness! That was our first thought when we saw the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 - the result of a joint venture of General Motors and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC).  Even though it might be called a Colorado, it is unlike anyone you'll find at your nearest Chevrolet dealership. The model is 6.5-feet tall and over 7-feet wide. To accodimate for the larger size, Chevrolet used a lengthened

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 25, 2012 The fine folks at PickupTrucks.com got their hands on the first spy shots of the U.S.-spec Chevrolet Colorado. On the outside of these two Colorado mules, the greenhouse and doors appear to be the same as the current Colorado on sale in Asia and other countries. Its expected that the U.S. version will get updated front and rear ends. As for powertrains, the Colorado in the U.S. will use a four-cylinder as a base engine, either t

While everyone has been going gaga over the possible fruition of the mid-engine Corvette, there is another juicy Corvette just around the corner. A spy photographer has gotten some up close photos of the next Corvette ZR1. Engineers have done their best to cover up the front, but there are some details that can be pulled out. First are the large vents on the bumper and a massive air intake. All of that air is needed if there is a 700 horsepower 6.2L supercharged V8 under the hood (according

It has been a few months since we last reported on the mid-engine Corvette. But thanks to a spy photographer, we have some new pictures of the mid-engine model which gives us some new details. The pictures show the mid-engine Corvette playing around with a couple of ZR1 prototypes in the snow. When put next to the ZR1 prototype, the mid-engine Corvette's proportions are very different - short front end and long rear end. It appears the mid-engine prototype is also sporting massive air intak

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 26, 2012 Chevrolet seems to pulling a page out of Buick’s playbook; offering hybrid versions of their mid and full-size sedans. Buick does it with the Regal and LaCrosse, and Chevrolet currently does it with the Malibu and soon to be Impala. Spy shots of a Impala pre-production prototype running around with no camouflage were caught. This wouldn’t be news, except for one small change. The grill on this particular Impala goes away from the

Chevrolet is hard at work on getting the Bolt EV from the concept we first saw at the Detroit Auto Show to go into production for 2017. Yesterday saw the first spy shots of the Bolt's interior come into focus.   The most noticeable feature is a large LCD screen which appears to be running a new version of Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system. Controls for audio and HVAC are right underneath the screen. There's also another LCD in the gauge cluster which appears to have a similar layout as th

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 21, 2012 Today, General Motors showed off the production model of the new Trailblazer at the Bangkok auto show in Thailand. Like the concept Trailblazer shown back in November, the production model uses GM's new global body-on-frame midsize truck architecture. Styling is the same as the concept; rounded and muscular. Engines include a base 2.5L four-cylinder diesel producing 150 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.8L four-cylinder die

If you think the current Chevrolet Silverado has too much brightwork, the 2015 Silverado Custom Sport package might be for you. As a special edition package available on the LT and LTZ models, the Silverado Custom Sport package swaps out the chrome front and rear bumper, and grille surround for body colored versions. Chrome is added to the door handles and side mirrors. You can have any color of Custom Sport you like as long as it is white, black, or white diamond (LTZ only). The package also in

Tesla's production hell seems to be only getting worse than better. Various issues at their Freemont plant has caused the automaker to push back their goal of producing 5,000 Model 3s from late last year to June of this year. This, in turn, has caused some holders of Model 3 reservations to have their order pushed back to 2019. “As we work hard to meet demand, we wanted to let you know that your estimated delivery timing has been adjusted to a slightly later window,” Tesla said in an email

Over the weekend, Chevrolet announced the pricing for the 2016 Volt before it goes on sale later this year. Pricing for new model will begin at $33,995 (includes a $825 destination charge). Chevrolet is quick to point out the 2016 Volt is almost $1,200 less that current Volt on sale. Add in Federal and State incentives and you could drive away with a Volt for as low as $24,995. Aside from the price cut, the 2016 Volt sees an increase in overall electric range (50 vs. 31 miles) and a improvement

The Chevrolet Spark EV is no more, ending a three-year run for the bowtie brand. The Detroit News learned that production of the Spark EV ended last summer as a part of a move by Chevrolet to get ready with selling the Bolt EV. Another reason not listed in the story is that the Spark EV was based on the previous-generation model, not the all-new model. When Chevrolet revealed the Bolt EV back in 2015, GM executives said the Bolt would likely not replace the Spark EV. Chevrolet spo

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 18, 2013 Chevrolet has announced today that 2014 Cruze Diesel will return 46 MPG on highway based on EPA estimates. This estimate bests the original Highway MPG prediction by about four MPGs. Chevrolet is quick to point out that the 46 MPG makes the Cruze Diesel the highest MPG of a non-hybrid vehicle. If you're wondering, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI gets 42 MPG Highway and the Volkswagen Passat TDI gets 43 MPG highway. Chevrolet says the

About a month ago, we reported on a California Air Resources Board (CARB) document that revealed the 2019 Camaro could be getting a seven-speed manual for the 6.2L V8. At the time, speculation was that the manual transmission could come from the Corvette. But it appears this dream has been popped. Last week, Bozi Tatarevic on Twitter uncovered that the document listing the seven-speed manual for the Camaro was marked as a canceled. A new document uploaded on the same day shows the 'Trans Ty

Guys, the Blazer is coming back! Hooray! Its going to be a crossover that slots between the Equinox and Traverse. *Blank looks from the crowd* I'm sure there are some that were hoping that the Blazer nameplate would return on something similar to body-on-frame Trailblazer/Blazer sold in various parts of the world. But if you have been keeping a close eye on Cheers & Gears for the past year or so, then you would know Chevrolet has been working on a crossover to fill in the whi

Well what do we have here? A new set of spy shots show off the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze without any camouflage - most likely due to the model being part of a photoshoot. The overall shape of the new Cruze is very striking and takes some ideas from the new Malibu and Volt with a rising beltline and sloping roof. Other details to take into consideration is a new design of the split grille, headlights, and flared out fenders. The new Cruze is expected to get the turbocharged 1.5L four-cyl
