Spying: Which Chevrolet Crossover is Under the Camo?

  • A redesigned Traverse or a new crossover to slot between the Equinox and Traverse?

Whenever a new set of spy shots come out, the photographer tends to have an idea of the vehicle in question. But that isn't the case with this set of spy shots.

The vehicle in question is a Chevrolet Crossover that was driving nearby General Motors' headquarters. But no one can seem to agree if this is the next-generation Traverse or the rumored crossover that would sit between the Equinox and Traverse. Motor1 believes it's latter since it is about the same size and shape as the downsized GMC Acadia. This new model could be wearing the Blazer nameplate.

No matter which model this turns out to be, we can be sure the front end will feature a similar design to the Equinox - large split grille and angular headlights. The taillights are long and horizontal, again taking a cue from the Equinox.

This new model will use the C1XX platform that currently underpins the Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia. Power is expected to come from an updated 3.6L V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic.

    Yes. There are telltale signs that this is a Chevrolet (the grille that is similar to the Equinox for example).

    Buick already has enough crossovers and future Cadillac crossovers aren't due for a few more years

    Interesting as I honestly could not tell much from the pictures, so glad others can see details I missed.

    Hmmm... could be Olds too...

     

    I am not seeing Chevrolet cues yet... clear lens taillamps?  WAY over.  And the grille doesn't vibe toward Chevy for me.

    I think I read somewhere that GM would be offering two wheelbases of the Traverse, kind of like the Hyundai Sante FE Sport and XL.

    Chevy needs more crossovers, they need something in between Equinox and Traverse.  Depending on how much the smaller the Equinox gets, they might be able to slot one between Trax and Equinox.  These crossovers sell like crazy, you have to have compact, small, medium, large, maybe more.  Look at how many Jeep has and they all keep selling no matter how many they introduce.

    Well, this has me interested. Love that new  Acadia , something about the size of it I really like.

    Plus I love the Blazer name.....

    Oy, another loved name from the past being slapped on a transverse engine, weak kneed version of its former self?  :(

    Would be so much better if the Blazer name returned on a 2-door, Colorado-based SUV.

    Look at what happened to the Explorer. The Acadia is basically what used to be the Envoy.

    What's better for enthusiasts sometimes just isn't in line with market realities. Most people drive their trucks (the ones solely for personal use) the same way they do cars the vast majority of time. They want the image, but better FE, and better driving dynamics, and a more compliant ride, and a vastly more space efficient utility.

    So automakers are giving people what they want. Most Jeeps are FWD based off of a platform used to make the Dodge Dart and 200.

    Have to say the more I look at these two Equinox and the Traverse I see much that matches the suburban.

    Both are lovely rides! The Traverse I think looks like a mini Suburban.
