If you're wondering why your Viper is taking longer than expected, we have an answer for you. SRT CEO Ralph Gilles tells the Detroit Free Press that Vipers will begin arriving mid-February, about a month and half later than originally promised.

"I apologized to our dealer base. We are just holding ourselves to a higher standard," Gilles said.

Gilles explained that Chrysler wants to make sure every Viper that rolls of the line is perfect before being shipped out to dealers.

"To say it bluntly, the old Chrysler would have shipped them out already. It's really a hand-made car, so it takes a little finesse to get everything perfect."

no one is really going to care much about a Viper when the 14 corvette hits lots.

no one? the dodge fanatics will be. of course the budget for one of these maybe 2x a corvette and only 1.1 to 1.2x better.

Speak for yourself, the Viper is a winner no matter how you slice it, and honestly as an overall package from a design standpoint much more appealing than the Corvette IMO. I'm not taking anything away from the vette, but the new Viper stays true to what the Viper has always been while going way above what was expected in terms of refinement and hopefully quality.

The Viper is certainly the nicest kit car out there!

Viper is Nice, but the New Vette is beautiful. Not perfect, but the best so far and for the price point, the Vette wins hands down.

I read this as they have quality problems and had to go back and correct some major items to make sure your 100K car is near perfect as nothing ever is.
