  • The Upcoming Fiat Spider Has Been Caught Uncovered

The times we have seen the upcoming Fiat 124 Spider in spy photos, they have been under many layers of camouflage. But a new set of shots have come in, showing off the new spider completely uncovered.

Now as we have previously reported, the Fiat 124 Spider is based on the new Mazda Miata and you can see some it in the 124 Spider's overall profile. Fiat has made some changes to make it their own with longer and squarer front end. The back is also square-ish and slightly taller than the Miata. The interior is mostly Miata, aside from the Fiat steering wheel.

Powertrains for the 124 Spider are expected to a be a turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and a 1.75L turbo four-cylinder with 240 horsepower for the Abarth.

We're expecting to see the Fiat 124 Spider at the LA Auto Show in November, with sales beginning sometime next year.

Not sure why, I am usually always a fan of auto's even little sports cars but this just is ugly to me and not very inspiring.

Funny how Sergio is doing all the things anti to saving FCA.

While he should be investing in his best bet for high volume he invest in Alfa and a two seat car for Fiat?

Not the way to increase volume and use up excess production facilities that are way under volume.

So now we have the 500, the 500L, the 500X (my favorite) and the 124 Spider.  Hopefully some showroom traffic will develop.

I fearlessly predict that Sergio's not too worried right now. He's probably booking a flight to Wolfsburg as we speak.

Operation Eiche...but in reverse?

I like that 1970s Fiat 124 that is pictured...the modern Miata based 124...the jury is still out in that one...

If it's priced like the MX-5, I might risk divorce and get one :P

I think it looks awesome. Looks like a modern S2000 and I still think those look sharp.

I dunno, but looks-wise I was expecting a lot more. Maybe it's just the camera angles? But they may still make a strong case for the car if they put in the hotter engines.
