According to Reuters, Hyundai will be introducing a new Sonata in 2014. Hyundai CEO Kim Choong-ho revealed the product update plans at an industry meeting in Seoul, South Korea.

The current Sonata has become the brand's biggest seller in the U.S. and the third best seller in Korea since going on sale in both countries. The Sonata has also helped propel Hyundai into one of the major players in the U.S.

Choong-ho also told Reuters that a new Genesis will be arriving sometime in late 2013.

Seems Hyundai is going to lengths to really put the pressure on other auto companes to refresh and stay competttitive,

I wonder if this is 'new' as in an MCE of the current car or an actual generational change. The 2 previous generations of Sonata each lasted 5-7 years with an MCE each.

The Sonata has to be a refresh, 2014 makes sense for an MCE. Probably a tweak of the front end, and perhaps an 8 or 9 speed transmission to max out fuel economy. A new Genesis already seems surprising because the car isn't that old. But considering they went from nothing toa pretty good RWD sedan, I look forward to what they do in generation 2.

Biggest improvement to the Sonata would be to get rid of the nauseating front end on the Hybrid version.
