Edmunds reports that next-generation Jaguar XJ flagship will come in two different bodystyles; the sleek, fastback shape that current model sports and a new bodystyle that uses the traditional three-box sedan design.
Why two bodystyles? Different tastes in Jaguar’s key markets. China, which is becoming the XJ’s largest market isn’t too keen on the current design and wants something a bit old school.
There was also rumors of strong dissent in certain groups at Jaguar if the next XJ went back to its old ways. The decision to go with two bodystyles seems to help smooth this over.
