  • Missed out? Lincoln will be doing a second run in 2020.

If you were hoping to get your hands on the upcoming Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition, then we have some bad news for you. Lincoln announced this morning that all 80 models planned for this year have been sold. Unlike most special models where you have to go through a unique ordering process, buyers could walk into any Lincoln dealer and place an order. Lincoln will notify the lucky 80 approved customers next month, with deliveries to begin this summer.

"Response from customers has been extremely positive, with interest exceeding the planned production for the limited-edition run," the company said in a statement.

Lincoln is planning a second run of Continental Coach Door models for the 2020 model year. More information will come out at a later date.

Good for them...and glad they are keeping thew production line rolling. Isn't this built on the same line as the Mustang?

Yep; Flat Rock, Michigan.

Good....so this car might live on if other sedans die out. Wonder what a next gen Conti might look like?

80 was too few; the number should have been at least 800.

If they do a next gen, maybe  they will use the Explorer/Aviator platform..

90? Why is this news?????

OH!!!?

Because Cadillac publicized that they sold out the 275 CTS-Vs in less than an hour??

I bet the bulk of these will be in private car service. I would be surprised if any ended up in just normal private ownership service.

Thinking on this, I bet they could easily keep this going with a 250-300 production a year. This would truly give special ownership to a conti of this style and build.

“Sold out” of 80 cars isn’t much to get excited about.  I don’t know why they don’t build every Continental with suicide doors to generate a little excitement.  This car is probably dead in 2 years anyway, might as well go out with a bang.

They make the donor car at Flat Rock but the mods are done by a firm contracted by Ford to make it OEM vehicle.

too bad this unique door design can't fix the ugly.

conversely, the suicide door might be a nice feature for those who want to load kids into car seats in the back.

The extra length really helps.*

I think that they decided to even do this on the Continental...

Remember the concept doors for the Navigator? What if they did a special run of that too?

That would mean that Lincoln wants to take risks again. Luxury car makers are all about risks with design or entering new luxury white spaces. How the hell did Hyundai make comparable (usually better too) to Lexus luxury cars in a decade? By taking risks!

More like this...they say at the end of the advert "if you have a party in the back Ford has business up front." Perfect as a lot of people have a party in the back for those with business up front.
