Accounting at it's best, what is good for the right has to be bad for the left to balance out always. Sergio never did understand that.

The new one will just takes sales off the Levante because the new one is on a better platform and will probably be cheaper.  Problem isn’t lack of SUVs, it is no one wants a Maserati.  They aren’t that good.

What has Sergio really made based on Italian socialist crap that is any good. He has destroyed what could have made FCA billions on billions to steal the millions to billions to reboot for umpteenth time the crap alfa on top of keeping fiat alive both along with maserati should have just been killed off.

I am no FCA fan, but to answer the question, the Jeep Renegade has sold well and sells globally, and the Alfa Romeo Guilia can beat the CTS-V around the Nurburgring, so they did make one tremendous performance sedan, although it doesn't sell.

The only value in FCA is in splitting it to pieces, because half the pieces in the pie are worthless.

Sell the Jeep Ram pieces to an american investment group. The rest probably would be sold to Chinese companies looking to grab an established dealership network to bring in their Copies of all things American into our shores.

Almost anyone would buy Jeep.  Ram trucks would only appeal to someone like Hyundai or maybe Nissan that wants more American market truck sales, probably more so Nissan because they can co-develop the pickups and work vans and sell them all as Ram brand.  

Alfa Romeo could have value to Ford, Mazda, Hyundai, Honda, really anyone that needs a luxury brand.  I don't think Maserati, Dodge, and Chrysler have any value to anyone.

I swear I see 2 or 3 Maseratis a WEEK. I have no theory as to why this is.

Luxury car buyers that want something different than the usual German luxury car.   And you are in New Jersey...lots of people of Italian ancestry, maybe they like Italian cars..;)

Well excuse me but Dodge needs a compact crossover like YESTERDAY.  The Caliber was a malformed embryo but it was on track for what ppl want now... yes I am saying the Dodge Caliber was ahead of its time.

A new compact CUV and a new Journey could do well for Dodge. 

Dodges don't have profit margin, but a Maserati does.  Maserati's aren't good cars, but that makes me think it can't cost that much to build them, and they are selling them for $100k.  Has to be a big margin on them.

So if FCA can sell 5000 Maserati CUVs and 100k Dodge CUVs... they should go with Maserati?  Makes perfect sense

If they make $300 profit on a Dodge and $15,000 per Maserati then yes.

Since when can Maserati sell more than 5000 units?  Better to put that development cash into better Dodge and Chrysler crossovers than Maserati.

They're selling 12K non-SUV/CUVs in the U.S. now, in a SUV/CUV market.
Who knows how a Mazer SUV will do tho.

Maserati is cutting production of the Levante due to poor sales, so not sure how much adding another crossover helps.  Problem with FCA is all their brands are un-desireable except for Jeep and Alfa Romeo.

Levante has moved just about 3900+ units thru September- that's 5200/yr for a brand that has sold about 12K annually for the last 3 years. That's nearly half the brand's volume- if it's getting cut, it's not because of sales.
 

Maserati must have some desirability- in 2010 it's US sales were 1900 for the year.

Yes they were... and people who owned them loved them... just like her sister car, the Rendezvous.
