Every year, the Los Angeles Auto Show hosts a challenge among automotive designers to concoct far-flung ideas about the future of transportation. This year's theme asked what the law enforcement rides of 2025 might look like, and the sketchers at Mercedes-Benz were so enamored with their design they built a life-size version, creating a Gelandewagon for the end of the world.

That is terrible. The current design is good, otherwise it wouldn't have lasted 35 years, so why change it.

That's really over-the-top, but at least it brings the g-wagon out of the 1960s it's stuck in.

I do believe that is too cool for school. Lovin' it with a diesel motor.

Looks like the "designers" of the Aztek are moving up in the world.

This is no Aztek and while it needs a bit of tweaking for main stream, it surly is a step in the right direction to modernize the G500 SUV.

I think the 2025 and even the 2050 G-class will look the same as the current model. It almost has to be the internal joke at Mercedes to see how long they can charge people $125,000 for an SUV that is shorter in length than the M-class and with a design from the 1970s.

Not crazy about the yellow bits, but overall I like it.
