I've always been a Forza fan but lately, I have been playing alot of Test Drive Unlimited 2. It's a great open world game in which you can buy houses, boats and of course, cars. Lots of cars. It has been out for a quite a while now so it shouldn't cost that much.

  2. So this week I have seen some really crazy driving from both local license plated auto's and out of state auto's along with auto's that have had front headlights out and it is way before predawn and they are using fog lights only to partial tail lights, brake lights where only one works and the middle and one of the outside is burnt out. With the stated above, it got me to thinking about our current drivers licenses and safety standards for auto's. I understand each state wants to keep control, yet the whole idea of the Federal gov was to have a set of standards that keeps a level playing field for this country. What would it take and or what would you feel should be th…

I am about ready to buy a new car, and have narrowed the search down to a previous generation E-class, 2007-2009, or a used Hyundai Genesis 4.6. I am looking for rwd, and not really a fan of the 300C or the CTS, and don't want a BMW either. So that leaves me with these two, first up is a 43,000 mile Genesis 4.6 and it is under a 2 hour drive to the dealer. http://www.ncautoauction.com/detail-2009-hyundai-genesis-4dr_sdn_4_6l_v8-used-10629235.html The other option is a 2008, 69,000 mile E550 with AMG sport package and Designo interior package, so it is fully loaded, with a good carfax report, but I would be buying it without seeing it in person and have to spend $750 t…

We know that these things are basically two V6 engines hitched together (in a common block) and that they are lazy and aren’t really all that hot rod-able. Used in firetrucks, big rigs, to run pumps, and other mundane applications, these behemoth engines made 275hp and 630 lb/ft at about 2,000 RPM when new and we think that they’re all kinds of neat. Sure, sticking one in a car or old truck wouldn’t be for creating some sort of insane running hot rod, but shoehorning one into a light enough car would result in something that should burn tires for miles if se…

Well, the lease on the Malibu is coming to an end in a month. I started looking for a replacement, but it has been interesteing so far. Not really a fan of anything smaller than my previous gen Malibu. So I visit the Chevy dealer and the only things they offer are a Silverado or possibly a Volt in the equipment/price range I'd like. Went to the Buick/GMC/Cadillac dealer and looked at Regal & LaCrosse. The offerings are pretty pricey even for a mid-level vehicle of either. So, I visited a Dodge dealer and looked at a Charger R/T that was nicely loaded and reasonably priced. Is it time to own my first new Dodge?

Had a nice Memorial Day weekend moment yesterday. We fixed a 1997 Oldsmobile involved in a minor accident, and the customer came in to pick it up. He had just come from a stress test, 87 years old. He gave us a muscleman pose as he told us he passed, surprised he was still here, he said. He was happy to get his car back. He had been drafted in 1945, near the end of the war. He was slated to ship off to Japan for a ground invasion when the decision was made to try the bomb instead. The bombs worked, as we know, and possibly thousands of young lives were saved. So, instead of summer gear, they were given overcoats... off to Italy instead. He saw the world. He was spared. He…

Spoke to sales guy about my dislike for CVTs. He says people actually like them, but when pressed, he wouldn't cough up any na…

  78. Okay, so the engineer at my fire station is installing the remanufacturered alternator on my step-son's '98 Regal LS tomorrow. He asked for nothing in return but I want to compensate him. Would handing him an envelope with cash at the end be acceptable? How much should I give? Never done anything like this before, so I don't want to offend either way (no cash given or too little/much cash). Thanks!

Didn't know where to put this. But went to the autoshow this past weekend. Costs more to get in, less stuff. The entire convention center floor was not even utilized this time around (mfr's not ponying up for space, or the cost was too high). Hardly any concept cars. To put a new Focus ST on a platform does not make it a concept car! I thought I would spout some miscellaneous ramblings about the things I observed. By alphabet...........

  82. So I ran across this baby in some old images I had at an autoshow with my dad, Gotta love old pictures. So I hunted these down online and decided we needed to start a thread of our First Love Affair with Auto's! Sound off on what was the first auto you saw that sent you on your way to just love Auto's. AMX3 for me! 1970 American Motors AMX/3 Prototype Tucked into the corner of the Chicago Auto Show, this may be the greatest American sports car that never was. Seeking to keep pace with Italian and Detroit automakers exploring mid-engine designs, American Motors commissioned its own take in 1970. Six copies of the AMX/3 were built in Italy, using a layout similar to a De…

Since my teens, I've been carting around all of the car magazines I've collected over the years. I never refer to them, I only look at them when I move them to a new place, and they aren't "mint" anyway. I think it's time to recycle them.

If you've spent time behind the wheel of a new Jeep Wrangler recently, I'm wondering what your impressions of it were.

http://bangshift.com/blog/goliaths-younger-brother-a-1972-chevy-c50-pickup-that-is-cool-truck-perfection.html His 1972 Chevy C50 is like the Goliath truck, a custom deal that as far as we can tell never came from the factory in any configuration resembling this. For Jeff’s truck, he started out with a moving truck and took 5 feet out of the chassis in front of the rear wheels, and then chopping another 5 feet off the frame behind the rear wheels. The result is pickup truck length but on steroids due to the sheer size of the wheels, tires, chassis, etc. It’s like a real life Tonka truck. It’s got an 8′ bed on it, big ten lug wheels, fender flares front and rear, and it lo…

I had posted earlier this month about the possibility of buying a honda, specifically a 76 CB750. well, last week i found what i had my heart set on to begin with that fit the budget. a guy 45 mins up the road was selling his 2006 triumph bonneville. its got some blemishes, but he has done modifications to it that i was going to do if i bought a new one later on this year. Its been about 8 years since i had ridden a motorcycle, and this is my first street bike, but the short ride up the street and back felt amazing.

Some hibernate, some sit on ice floes. It is February, a chilly one this year (in these parts, at least). If you can "bear" it, let's get out there and spot some vehicular modes of transportation... right here!

So I went over to York, PA today to study some vehicles. The Buick, while cool as heck, is just too expensive at this point in my life. The Fords are very nice, all SE manual hatches ranging from $23-$25k (crappy pinstripes would be off like a prom dress immediately though). The Sonic RS is $21.8k but red is not my color (although it looks very good in red). Please give opinions if you wish. http--,,--//

  93. Yes, tonight sometime soon Top Gear goes off of the airwaves. No, not for good (hopefully), but at some time tonight season 19 does officially end ... maybe. Of course, since Top Gear always leaves you with horrible between-season withdrawls (the long wait for the new season was like going through heroin, cocaine, oxycodone, and smoking joneses all at the same time), you eventually find yourself searching between seasons for something else to watch that will fill the void until the new one debuts. Besides watching the take-it-or-leave-it 'Mericun version that airs on the History Channel, YouTube has begun to offer quite a lot in the way of auto-related programming that is…

Hey. How's your Focus running? Had any warranty issues? Any issues with user friendliness? How's the fuel mileage? General observations? Dealer in town I work in has quite a few SE hatches with manual transmission available for perusal.

So, in an unexpected turn of events, the Bonneville will disappear Saturday and be replaced with a 2013 Traverse. I got a deal and decided to take it, so the the Bonne disappears and the Malibu sticks around a couple more months until its lease is up. Then I have to decide what I get to replace the Malibu. Guess its time to update my av.

Interrobang You probably already know the interrobang, thanks to its excellent moniker and increasing popularity. Though the combination exclamation point and question mark can be replaced by using one of each (You did what!? or You don't read mental_floss?!), it's fun to see the single glyph getting a little more love lately. 2.
