Hey, I am at a crossroads, I am not sure of what I should do. I was looking at a Cobalt SS moonroof without the Supercharger. Now the car clocks in at approx $475 / month and is somewhere in the range for the lease payment on my 05 RSX. They said they "should" be able to buy out the lease on the RSX and I could buy the Cobalt. Does anyone have any opinion on this? I kinda like the RSX more but getting service is hard because of the limited dealers around and when you do get service there is still a hassle with getting parts. It took them 2 months for a strut and I don't see things getting better with the RSX being discontinued. I guess the major question is, is the Cobalt as good as it feels?

I'd go for the Cobalt; I want one myself to replace the Camaro.. but I'm planning on an '07 supercharged variant.

It couldn't hurt.... :)

Granted the RSX handles a bit better, a bit more refined, but it might be time..

The Balt tends to be more fun to drive and throw around, and the ecotec VVT seems to be holding up quite well so far (there's already a SS (non s/c) with 50k..

I think you should be able to talk them a bit cheaper of a payment though..

They are going to make money on that RSX....

just make sure you get your money 's worth.

The whole Canadian thing I don't think so cause I was just in Canada and there is like an 8% exchange rate right now. Which is bupkiss I give them a dollar and they give me like 1.08 back..... thats NOTHING!!!!

Yeah, the Canadian exchange has risen to almost par, from 63 cents just 18 months ago, thanks to our petro dollars. BUT car prices haven't dropped. We pay $70k for a Corvette Convertible; $66k for a LTZ Tahoe.

$475 sounds high for an SS lease, though. If your RSX is a factory lease - forget about it. They won't even talk to your Chevy dealer and if you've only been driving the car for a year or so you are BURIED.

To buy out the lease or buy out the car, either way you are probably in the hole by $6-10 GRAND. I've tried to get people out of HOnda, Mercedes or whatever leases in the first two years and it is impossible. Those contracts are nasty and they won't budge a dime. At least with GMAC they will discount what you owe if you want to break the lease.

The RSX is leased at 480, the $75 for the cobalt is to own the car over 5 years

Gee, I dunno. If it was an SS Supercharged, I'd jump at it. Hell, Even Consumer Reports likes the Cobalt SS Supercharged over the RSX :o ...

But a non SC'd version? Me personally, I'd keep the RSX until I spotted a SS SC.

However, no one but you knows the right decision.
