FIREWORKS

Featured Replies

I'm all for patriotism, but man there's a bunch of losers every year that get off on blowing FWs at all hours of the NIGHT and day, I don't wanna hear it, do something productive with your time instead of seeing how close you can keep your face to it before at the last minute you jump away and avoid facial deformation. And yeah, the money you spent on fireworks might be better spent on an education. Go see the fireworks show, they are all over on July 4th at sundown.

they just allowed FWs here in this state again recently, and now I know why they banned them for so long, so mnay idiots creating noise, maiming themselves, and doing dumb things.

I guess you deserve that emergency room visit. There a lot of folks who shouldn't be allowed to buy fireworks.

 @ FlyBrian

But I agree...I'm tired of the kids that think their puny little firework show a block down the street is anything compared to the real fireworks that go on at the fairgrounds. And fireworks aren't even legal in this state.

exactly

Fireworks are very illegal in Prince George's County, but the Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, and Target in Anne Arundel County (the county to our east) sell fireworks by the Silverado-full to PG Co residents.

But yeah, we have assorted nuts here that set off a couple of bottle rockets and screamers during the few days preceeding and after the 4th every year. It gets pretty annoying when the screamers are still being shot up at around 1 a.m.

FWs are illegal here, too, as far as I know. Yet, even as I type this, I can hear 'em being shot off every few minutes....

Thanks for posting for me Camino. :)

What's the 4th without fireworks? Enjoy it while you can.

its like shooting things with a BB gun, what's the point

Trading your 500 in for a Camry LE buddy?

Don't be such a stick in the mud dude... I don't condone

setting off fireworks in a populated area at 1:00 am but

hell, setting off a few semi-legal fireworks in some

field or clearing in the woods at 10:00pm on the 3rd is a

great way to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the birth

of this great nation.

Lighten-up guys, the 4th only comes once a year.

Fireworks are fun.

fun for who, certainly not the neighbors

for every person setting off FWs in their backyard there is 10 neighbors around them that would love to tell them to get a life

the noise is annoying, especially at night when people need to sleep.

yup, go off in the country and set them off, away from the rest of us, make sure you got a friend with to call 911 in case you blow your face off

and is it just me or do minorities seem to get off a lot more on setting off fireworks than anyone else, like it s a new thing

damn, I got valleyfair, the horsetrack, 3 municipalities and a casino all shooting fireworks visible from my house after sundown 7/4. Why would I want to be bothered with some punks thinking they are cool lighting off seriously inferior stuff?

Edited by regfootball

My neighbors have been setting them off in the 2-3am timeframe the last couple of weeks so I've been taking my dogs bark collar off and letting her bark her head off which she continues to do long after they've quit lighting their fireworks. Also, their kids keep hitting volleyballs and stuff over the fence so I leave the crap out there hoping she chews on the stuff, which she eventually does.

excellent. LOVE IT

Firework shows are so variable.

Two years ago, I saw the Legoland fireworks from neighboring Carlsbad / Encinitas. They were not that good...and you'd think they would have the money to put on a killer show!

XP says the Cambodians are the ones who set off ridiculous

amounts of fireworks in not so good spots of Lowell from his

experience. Sounds beleivable since they all seem to drive

riced out Japanese cars or American SUVs with 24" rims.

They are a crazy bunch.

I'm with you, reg. Last night, neighbors all around me were setting off all sorts of $h!, from noisemakers, to fullblown, burst-in-air green things. Next door neighbors had (I guess) what amounts to an all-night pool party. 10 minutes ago, I heard some animated conversation, and a big splash.

I love fireworks shows (and have been to many and will continue to go) where people have a choice to go or not, held out in a big field for max visibility and safety. Setting stuff off in a residential neighborhood is not cool.

EDIT: I just got back in from my walk. The cul-de-sac is littered with fireworks detritus. They were also setting stuff off FROM MY YARD. I thought they were damned close last night, but until I saw the remnants this morning, I didn't think they'd have the balls to go in someone else's yard and set them off. Also, there's a goddamned Camry blocking my driveway, and I kicked a Corona bottle out of my yard into the street.

They're still over there in the pool.

This is the time to have a lifted full size truck and make a Camry pancake.

I'd be setting off some fireworks down here for the 4th today, the only downside is that its been so dry down here that's there's a "No Burn Order" up so it'd be bad to, but we may still do what's become a "tradition" for me, which is find a car model, cram it full of M80s and see how long it'll last.

Aside from the typical safety hazards that all too many stupid people tend to ignore, the biggest concern tends to always be the possibility of wildfires. All year, people can beak about how dry it is, and how expensive the wildfires are to their region, and then light up some fireworks like big dopes and have at least someone starting a new wildfire. Yeah, real bright folks.

That's right, you only get one 4th of July, (or 1st of July for Canada) to get the opportunity to set fire to your country.

I leave the fireworks to the professionals, who get paid to make a good show. A few roman candles, wheezers and firecrackers does not a good show make.

Our city has them every year as well; and quite frankly, they should save their money. Some shows are quite pathetic, really. The lightening show we received the night before was far more mesmurizing.

 • 1 year later...

Fireworks tents started popping up this week, they opened for business yesterday. I went today and got some Sparklers, Roman Candles and some other small stuff. Got my free gross of bottlerockets too, not sure what I'm going to do with them, they're useless and stupid. As soon as it gets dark out (sunset yesterday was at 8:36) we're going to go out in the yard and play around. I didn't get any of the big, booming stuff, at least not yet. I dont know if my special hidden fireworks spot ig going to be possible this year, its by the river and we've had a lot of flooding this year.

On a bright note, a lot of my white trash neighbors have left (several have been foreclosed, others left when their rental agreements were up and the company renting the houses jacked up prices) so hopefully we wont have the all night fireworks displays that have been going on the last couple years.

wow, this wins the prize for 'reviving old thread'~!

The search funtion is a wonderful thing. :)

our 4th of july stockpile is bought all wholesale by the case, for a fraction of store prices.. we have about 60 something cases of works, i believe the order was 1500lbs, and had a retail value of almost $6k (all together we paid about $1500)

i cant wait for the fourth!!!!

Don't want to go back to those days, that's for sure!

Ohio = Fireworks mostly legal... for Ohio residents.

Pennsylvania = Fireworks mostly illegal... the big ones anyway

5 miles over the Ohio line = huge fireworks "walmarts"

When you buy fireworks from an Ohio store, they take down your driver's license information. They make you sign a statement saying you will not light the fireworks in Ohio as a PA resident. They make you sign a second statement saying that you won't transport the fireworks into PA.

There is an Ohio state trooper sitting in the parking lot and a bunch of PA state troopers at the PA line.

It's borderline entrapment. <pun intended>

Wow... You people are no fun at all.

I think fireworks are great and I set them off a lot. (Granted, it's not at all hours of the morning AND I live on the side of a mountain away from people)

Especially around the 4th, not really to celebrate the nation, as I'm so very OVER what this country is. But rather just to see $h! blow up.

yeah without Michigan residents going to Ohio to buy fireworks i think Ohio would crumble. I don't mind fireworks 3-4 before and after the fourth but what bothers me is that it now seems the fireworks start at June 1st

Maybe I'm just missing them this year...

It's illegal in Assachusetts to set off fireworks. Fortuneatly I live 5 minutes from NH, so that's where we're heading for the 4th. Need to go and buy some fireworks.

totally illegal in ny, thats why we went with an unmarked rented van a few months ago, and got everything from CT
