Any hope for a good minivan?

Sorry, but I'm dealing in Canadian dollars and the Sedona is $25k and the Uplander is $18,999.

The answer to gold rated vans (VERY important to saftey conscious family types) is not cheaping up on structure. Both the Caliber and the Fusion feature side airbags (standard on caliber for sure, don't know about fusion) Yet neither did good because both did not have a strong saftey cage. The current uplander has the same problem. When the Lambda's come out, GM needs to hit with a fold flat rear and buckets, rock solid saftey, and decent engines and transmissions, and bingo, they are competitive again.

I sit here dreaming of Astro 2.0 with a Colorado frame and a 4.2 inline six and LEGROOM. I bet the general would sell a few to fleet at least with fleet managers trying to rescue their average gas mileage.

Not only to fleet, but independent tradesmen who need to keep their tools &

supplies under cover and secure---- something that you cannot do in a pick-up!

AND---- it would not be soccer moms who would buy them for other, functional

uses besides passenger hauling, where full-size vans can't and don't cut the

mustard, even the SWB versions!

BUT Please, give us 5 doors at least (both sides), a split variation on the rear hatch, maybe even go back to station wagon style, and definitely seats that disappear and leave a truly flat, one-plane floor--- without any removal of

interior parts!

The 4200 I-6 would be a very capable engine choice.

I'd love to see a new Venture/Uplander/whatever-the-hell-its-called. My in-laws have a 2003 Venture and its not a bad van at all!
