JOURNEY FORCED TO MAKE LEAD SINGER CHANGE

ON NATIONWIDE TOUR

Jeff Scott Soto to assume JOURNEY lead singer duties starting on July 7th in Bristow, VA due to Steve Augeri throat infection

July 6, 2006 -- Due to a chronic throat infection, Journey’s lead singer, Steve Augeri, has been forced to leave the band’s current nationwide tour with Def Leppard. Jeff Scott Soto, who has previously performed with Journey guitarist Neal Schon, will assume the band’s lead singer duties starting with the July 7th show in Bristow, VA. Steve Augeri’s condition will be closely monitored by his physician to determine when he may be able to rejoin the tour.

According to Journey, “Steve’s been suffering with an acute throat condition since before we kicked off the tour with Def Leppard. We were hoping he’d be in well condition to handle the rigors of the road but unfortunately it appears to be a chronic condition requiring total voice rest. We all wish Steve a speedy recovery.”

about 3 yrs ago i saw them in a small club and it was one of the best concerts i've been to. they have been on the scene over 30 years and have like 25 top 40 hits.

you been under a rock?

Just playing around. I was giving my gf crap a few months ago, she said she wanted to put Journey's Greatest Hits album in, I asked if it was the same song repeated 20 times because thats the only Journey song most people can name. I think its the only one I can name right now too, but its 2am and I'm tired.

What happened to Steve Perry ? How can you have Journey without Steve Perry ? Actually Neal Schon did the singing on Journeys first album and it was great. I have always liked his voice and the contrast with Perry was great.....now I finally realised after all these years that Neal Schon was the vocalist on Black Majic Woman. The song......whatever the title was ??? "When the lights go out in the city" I always liked alot, had the contrasting vocals and great double stop flowing guitar.

Journeys music was overplayed but that is the fate of the sounds of those special bands in their given eras that have the girls calling in to hear it "one more time" four times an hour :duh: .

BTW - Deep Purples latest - Rapture of the Deep is pretty darn good listening for old hard rockers if "pop typical" is NOT what floats yer boat. Ive been a Steve Morse fan since Dixie Dregs in the mid 70's and he does the Purple thing rightous...............Dude !

I've never seen Journey perform, but I think they played here in Iowa not too long ago. I know REO Speedwagon played over at the Crawford County Fair one summer...probably kinda weird going from arenas to county fairs, but there's still an audience.

The only Journey CD I have is "Frontiers," but I downloaded a bunch of songs off the greatest hits so I have the bases covered pretty well. Frontiers is a very polished album...very futuristic sounding too (a little synth-heavy, but I like it). My favorite song off there is "Edge of the Blade," but there's not a bad song on that disc.

I've really gotten into the Journey-REO-Styx sound lately. I just bought REO's Greatest Hits yesterday and am loving it. There's something about that big arena rock sound that makes great tunes for driving and road trips.
