1998 Cadillac Seville STS

Featured Replies

I just love this car. :) She's got about 125,500 miles on her. Photography is a little hobby of mine, so I end up snapping a bunch of shots of the car. :)

It's actually the road. That's how they smoothed it over I guess. everyone thought I photoshopped it.

yah i can tell its not photoshopped tho there is some inconsistent blur on it lol but its not supposed to be in focus i guess

and its not a zoom trick those are a pain with wide angle shots lol damn fine shots and a novel lense

Hey there Speedy:

Appropriate nickname since these cars like to "coast" at 120mph.

The car is nice the photography even better. I too am a sucker

for interesting shots, low/high angle & macro shots. I've always

prefered the 1992-97 body style but the more rounded smoother

1998-04 is not exactly bad looking either.

The 98-04 has better looking more modern headlights but more

importantly the lower front fascia does not sag & or break if

you look at it wrong.

I had (still have but not registered) 1997 STS & as a Chevy

salesman I sold a gently used 1999 STS in silver to my G/Fs

grandmother. All her life she wanted a Caddy but drove

Plymouths, Chevrolets & after the B-body died, Panthers.

She loves her STS... it's got like 78K on it.

The crazy part is that even though she always wanted a Caddy

the car she learned to drive on, a 1930s Packard 3-on-the-tree

is probably worth more today than 2 new STSs.

Oh & the guy who traded in her STS, he bought a electric blue Z06!

WORD TO THE WISE:

Never, ever, EVER pour anything other than Mobil1 synthetic, or at least

an equivelant synthetic into that front valvecover. These cars were

designed to run Mobil 1, they left the factory with Mobil 1 and if you do

switch to regular oil for even one oil change intreval it will result in

disaster sooner or later. The guy who had my STS before me did that

and f***ed the car up royally. I'm at the point where I hate it cause it's

FWD but even if it was not for that the car is a mess... it burns/leaks

about a quart of oil every 100-150 miles. No joke.

Well, I don't use mobil, but I've been using Castrol Syntec since I got it. I actually lost the first engine. I'm on my second. number 1 piston rod bearing went out. The rest of the engine was fine. I really don't understand. Maybe it was all those nights at the 1/8 mile drag races :). Yes I've raced this car. And even had N20 on it. :) I'm treating the new one a little better now. I really want to keep the car for a long time. :)

Videos and pics for the non believers :)

amazing photos . . . i just got my digital rebel today and im waiting for my 1 GB flash card to come . . . ihave dozens of lenses

its pretty crazy that you raced it and the NO2? in a northstar? ridiculous!?

you should prolly head 68's warning and stick to either that or a nice synthetic oil a lot of engines are really tempermental under the wrong type of oil even the northstar i guess is subject

Holly Cow SpeedyII,

That video is pretty cool, you're alright for a FWD lover.

Gotta love those NorthStars... they do have a great

combo of reliability & power.

I'm 99% sure NOS played a major role in your old No*'s

destruction. Did you keep the old block? I'd love to have a

No* planter in my front yard... painted up classic cadillac

blue with red & white flowers sticking out of the eight

cylinders. Pistons also make a great paper weight.

I'm sure it did to, but I found it funny that the only problem was the one rod bearing. The rest of the engine was fine. And when it was knocking, it ran smooth as silk. I didn't keep the engine. I really wish I could've kept it. I did take the throttle body, mounting plate, and spark plug wire though. Everything else is in California some where. I think if I would've replaced it in Florida I would've taken the motor home and kept it. Oh well.

I like the new tips!

I'd love a pre-Sigma STS...beautiful cars.

One of my favorite Cadillacs ever. Those are some pretty awesome shots you took!

I've onlt ever been in 1 Seville...and it was in the junkyard...so very sad.

It's actually the road.  That's how they smoothed it over I guess.  everyone thought I photoshopped it.

i find concrete that has been scraped like that is much quieter than w/o it...

nice car man!

Sweet ride... I love those cars... I almost got an older one but it was too high on the miles... The STS would probably be my idea car if not for the price of maintenance on them... thats why I got the Regal GS... its a similar style car, but a lot simpler and cheaper mechanically.

Edit: 125,000 mi!?!?! Holy sh*t! Just looking at the pics I'd have guessed 50k maybe.
