July 26, 200619 yr I don't remember this being posted before, but it appears to be a good reference source for the current status of North American manufacturing plants (only saw a few mistakes that I know of... such as Lansing Grand River opened in 2001, not 1990.) Automotive Manufacturing Solutions July/Aug 2006 I'm glad to see that there hasn't been a closing announcement made for Hamtramck yet. The PAAS implementation caught my eye. A comment from this article caused me to wonder what is Hamtramck's true product capacity now with PAAS? According to Cowger, Lansing Grand River is "a model for our competitive manufacturing strategies." He says the plant is approximately one-half the size and has half the employment of the five plants constructed during GM’s building spree in the 1980s. For instance, the new facility is 1.9 million square feet vs. 3.5 million square feet for the 17-year-old Detroit-Hamtramck plant that assembles the Cadillac DeVille and Seville. That complex employs more than 3,500 workers, while the new Lansing facility will employ less than 1,500 when it is fully operating. Another question is 'why would GM update Hamtramck with no new products planned as mentioned in this recent article (June'06)?' ...future expansion of Sigma production? Enjoy!

July 26, 200619 yr possibly sigma II? 171576 is there more planned for Sigma II? I didn't think Lansing was at capacity yet.
July 26, 200619 yr is there more planned for Sigma II? I didn't think Lansing was at capacity yet. 171580 Evok previously spoke about combing the DTS and STS on sigma. That could be cause for an increase in volume. The DTS is also already manufactured at Hamtramck.
July 26, 200619 yr NG DTS/STS on Sigma II at Hamtramck and CTS/CTC/SRX at Lansing maybe? 171595 but all of them CTS CTC SRX DTS STS are all supposed to be sigma II correct?
