August 1, 200619 yr Customer upset over Taco Bell "sauce wisdoms" Tuesday, June 06, 2006 Posted: 08:18 PM Link' WESLACO – One Valley woman says the slogan on Taco Bell’s sauce packets is offensive. As part of Taco Bell’s “Think outside the bun” campaign, the company held a contest last year for slogans to be printed on their sauce packets. Customers submitted their ideas, like “When I grow up I want to be a waterbed” and “You had me at taco”. The one that bothers Jessica Luna says, “Not to be used as a flotation device”. She tells NEWSCHANNEL 5, “Somewhere along their roots here, somebody came across the border from Mexico. Risking their lives to provide a better a life for their children. This is just a mockery.” Luna says she enjoys Taco Bell’s food and has always eaten there a lot. But she wants the company to re-think its campaign. We asked the company about the slogans. Director of Public Relations Rob Poetsch said, “Our Sauce Wisdoms are not directed at any specific group of people or at any specific region and are meant to inspire and entertain.” We asked other people what they thought about the company’s humor. Customer Olga Garza said, “They don't bother me. They're not that funny, but they don't bother me.” Many told us they will still eat at the restaurant, despite their “tasteless” humor. The company admits it has had a number of complaints about the packet. After our story aired, it decided to remove the one with the reference to a flotation device.
August 1, 200619 yr So how many Mexicans will lose their lives now... because they'll try to float across the Rio Grande with a sauce packet under each armpit. Jessica Luna-tic is a racist! That disclaimer needs to be there to protect illegal aliens from drowning!

August 2, 200619 yr My favorite is "Warning: You're about to Make a Taco Very Happy." That's funny. My girlfriend always tells me the same thing. 174554 :rotflmao:
August 2, 200619 yr Put a wisdom on a shirt that says “When I grow up I want to be a human” and make her wear it. (Sorry. Bad joke.)
August 2, 200619 yr Just one more example of people not minding their own business. If people would take their noses out of their neighbours' asses, the world would be happier. I'm curious... is she white? Because I honestly doubt many people from Latin America or Mexico felt insulted by this message... how one person ties the illegal immigration of (pardon me admin) "wetbacks" to a sauce packet that mention flotation devices is beyond me. Don't people have lives? Doesn't she have kids to look after or a job or dinner to cook?
August 2, 200619 yr No, she probably doesn't, she's probably a latte sipping, terry cloth pants wearing, stupid-head, who wouldn't know her asshole from a hole in the ground.
August 2, 200619 yr No offense, but this is the kind of thing that I see too much in North America, mindlessly pointing fingers at people and calling "you offended me" or something. I'm surprised the women didn't try to sue Taco Bell.
August 2, 200619 yr Its like the lady that sued McDonalds for serving her hot coffee and her being stupid enough to scald herself.
August 2, 200619 yr I'd spray the sauce in her eyes and hope it makes her go blind so she can't complain about things she see's that "offends" her.
August 2, 200619 yr What a f@#king dumbass bitch. *looks again* Oh, she's a VALLEY girl...figures. Some of those wisdoms are pretty funny. "Of all the sauces, why me, why now?"
August 2, 200619 yr Some people have far too much time on their hands. I bet she's one of those people who complained that the Toyota Yaris commercials were too violent.
August 2, 200619 yr I have evaluated this kind of behavior in people for a few years since college. It seems to me that it has only been in the past 10 years this natural obcession with being offended by something completely harmless has grown beyond the scope of the hoity-toity well-to-do. I'm of the opinion that some people feel the need to have a negative opinion of harmless things around them, claiming it offends them, just so they can look superior as having higher standards. It's quite rediculous, for certain.
August 2, 200619 yr Its like the lady that sued McDonalds for serving her hot coffee and her being stupid enough to scald herself. 174687 No. McDonald's actually was playing with fire in this one. They deserved to lose that lawsuit. Read up on the case and you might understand.

August 2, 200619 yr How so? Can you give us the "short" version of the story? 174939 McD's served its coffee at 185 degrees and most other places served it at 165. Put that together with the fact there wasn't a label telling people not to spill it. It was her fault for taking off the lid while adding stuff to it when it was in her crotch that caused the spill. BTW the huge judgement that was first awarded was lowered after McDs appealed.Details at link. http://www.vanosteen.com/mcdonalds-coffee-lawsuit.htm
August 2, 200619 yr Some people are pretty f@#king stupid. But ya know what they say "God loves stupid people, that's why he made so many."
August 3, 200619 yr For anyone who wants to know the "long version" of the McDonalds case, read here: http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cur78.htm Yes, Bill, coffee should be served hot, but not so hot that it would cause third degree burns within a few seconds.
August 3, 200619 yr after going to Taco Smell today and getting hotsauce packets, the four I got were: "You had me at Taco." "Bike tires scare me" "It's okay. You can say it. I love you too." "Nice palm. I see a great deal of pleasure in your future."
August 3, 200619 yr "Nice palm. I see a great deal of pleasure in your future." Uhh... kay. 175238 i think it was referring to the enjoyment of the food he's about to eat, but yeah, I though about the um...implications of that one.
