August 7, 200619 yr front looks great, the rear is good but has that concept look to it, w/o clear indicators and such. oh and the exhausts look huge to me... oh well, still looks great
August 7, 200619 yr I think the headlights are a little off, but everything else looks pretty good. 176783 Agreed. Cribbing the headlights from a Dodge is a guarantee for inaccuracy. Rest looks good though.ETA: Upon second glance, the beltline and greenhouse are way too aggressive...but what the hell, it's an awesome sketch. Edited August 7, 200619 yr by Croc
August 7, 200619 yr Oooh maybe this will get GMS up to 20 members from 17 176753 I thought I saw someone post on GMS one time, but it turned out to be gas.
August 7, 200619 yr Anyone remember how hot the current Malibu looked via a sketch? If nothing else, it does look like it will have more life than the current Malibu.
August 7, 200619 yr Proportionally, its off. But the details are probably close. Nice work, Crispey. 176953 Ditto. The roofline looks tiny compared to the body. But overall somehow it reminds me of a huge Cobalt.
August 7, 200619 yr I think it looks more like the Impala with a huge-ass grill added on... so basically, yeah, it looks like a huge Cobalt.
August 7, 200619 yr Very nice, but this is like the g6 concept vs reality, same low slung profile that didn't make production.
August 9, 200619 yr Automobile Rag said that GM may cram a V8 in this. How credile is that statement? Probably slim to nil. Anyhow, great job Chris. (By the way, if you're reading this, does GMS hire you to do these...?) Edited August 9, 200619 yr by YellowJacket894

(By the way, if you're reading this, does GMS hire you to do these...?) 177995 I'd say a V8 in it is feasible. Especially if/when it jumps to Zeta (it's going on Zeta eventually, right?). At least a small V8.. 5.3L or so.Chris, I believe, does this as a favor to Josh. I could be wrong, but I know Josh has helped Chris in the past, so I'd guess Chris is just doing some repayment.
August 10, 200619 yr Hmm... not what I heard. I understood the next Malibu is going to be on the LWB Epsilon I platform. Impala will be on the larger Zeta platform.

The Epsilion platform, after all, is almost as big as the W-Body, if not larger with the updated platform. As for the Malibu moving to Zeta, I have no clue but seriously doubt it. Impala's the Zeta car. :AH-HA_wink: Chris, I believe, does this as a favor to Josh. I could be wrong, but I know Josh has helped Chris in the past, so I'd guess Chris is just doing some repayment. Ah, alright then. Edited August 10, 200619 yr by YellowJacket894
August 10, 200619 yr Sure a V8 may fit, but that should get saved for the Impala. Just give it the smooth HF 3.6L and the six speed auto and we'll have a nice Toyota Camry competitor right here. Give it a pushrod 3.5 and a four speed on the other hand... and the critics will crucify it and Consumer Reports will give it yet another "Coarse Powertrain" comment.
August 10, 200619 yr Sure a V8 may fit, but that should get saved for the Impala. 178162 Impala will almost assuredly be able to fit more than 325 c.i.d. under the hood... Why not throw a larger engine than a 300 HP 5.3 in there?
August 12, 200619 yr The rear lights of the car in the spy shots just have basic round trailer lights installed in the rear, there's a good chance that the Malibu will not have round tail lights. But I still wouldn't rule it out.
August 12, 200619 yr A V8 in the Malibu would be dumb. I doubt it can fit anyways as Epsilon is significantly narrower than W. Also, the Malibu is definetly not moving to Zeta.

Maybe GM will finally figure it out and get the connection as to why everyone's been trashing their cars for years and years. Edited August 13, 200619 yr by regfootball
