My dream garage would have a bed, sink, oven, refrigerator, bathtub, and toilet. Maybe a computer, too, in case I need to look something up. I'd want enough space for 10 cars, initially, with plenty of property to expand should my desires change. Of course, a huge work area with a lift, overhead engine crane, paint booth, and huge air compressor, and enough space to store the parts to a work in progress. And I'd like the property surrounded by a fence made out of crushed Toyotas.

As to what to fill it with, well, ask me this question tomorrow and I'll probably give a different answer for #3-10. Here goes:

1. My current Cobalt. I have no intentions of getting rid of it just yet.

I'm UNpretentious compared to most of you guys:

- a Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT with a 3.5 V6 VVT as a daily driver

- a Buick LaCrosse CX or Grand Prix base with a 3800 V6 for occasions when I have have to lug around people and need 2 extra doors

- a Pontiac GTO (or what about a new F-bird as a twin to the new Camaro?) as a toy car (driven on rare occasions and babied the rest of the time)

And it all fits within a 3-car garage.

I love those fuselage-styled cars. I like the muscle cars too, but let's face it - most of them drove like grocery carts, and I am addicted to power windows, locks, etc.

I'd take half the cars on sixty8's list, but I've found when I've driven cars that are older than the mid-60s, they look good but their performance/handling/ride leave much to be desired.

I have recently had a change of emotions on car stables, sending 4 vehicals of my own straight to the junk yard without batting an eye. Two of which were "dream cars of mine" a 86 Riviera and a 76 Delta 88 2dr hardtop. BOth of which were great origional owner cars, One needing little work and the other already having well over 300 hours of hard labor. I nearly sent them all but pulled back on the 75 convertable and our old 86 LeSabre 2dr.

It took awhile but I now understand the huge commitment and vast amount of man hours needed to maintain a stable let alone restify or customize cars that "need a little TLC"

Now I feel if I had the financial resources I would only pursue one car, the car that most stimulates me out of all cars.

My sister had a 1979 2-door S/E/. It did have the slant six. I thought it was a fairly classy car with the half vinyl rood and the opera windows.

Part of me did think about the tools and equipment that my dream garage would have, but at the same time, this is a car enthusiast site, not a tools and equipment enthusiast site.

Yeah, you say that about a half-ton pickup.... Imagine pushing the HUGE spring clutch in on something old, like say the bastard that's in the '66 International that's currently occupying our shop.

The 366 was a fine HD truck engine.

when i got the truck it was easy compared to some of the farm equipement i drove and some very old un reconizable trucks. just a seat dash engine frame and bed no fenders or anthing. but now that im spoiled i dont think i would enjoy going back to them. the first hydra. clutch was in my 85 blazer and the first time i hit the clutch i thought i was going to push it through the floor board.

Yeah, its always fun when you're used to a mechanical clutch and you get that very first hydraulic one...you'll think you've hurt the thing from pushing so hard.

I drove an old beat up 1980s Ford F350 once that had the clutch

from hell... I'd imagine it was hydraulic but damn it was like the

thing reqired more effort to push the clutch in then it did to

propell it down the road.

its not that hard give alot of gas drop the clutch burn some rubber. so its not a efficent start but hey your not stoped any more. Yes I do go through alot of clucthes. but ill be silky smooth when needed.

There's a handfull of cars that do not automatically suck even though they're

FWD. The list is short and the only one with a transverse mounted motor is

the original Austin MINI. Other cars, with longitudinally mounted motors

include the Cord L29 & 810, 67 Razorback Eldorado, 66 Toronado & Bustleback

80-84 Seville.

I guess there's a few semi-cool FWD cars by my deffinition. like just off the top

of my head: 79 VW Rabbit, 91 CRX a few Citroens...
