August 18, 200619 yr Will we see a Mini Z? ^The target. Just as there are two X cars, the X3 and the X5, BMW thinks there is sufficient demand for a Z2-level roadster. A corollary rumor is that a Z6 roadster is also in the works; it would be a rival to Mercedes-Benz SL. BMW isn't giving much information away, but officials do say it would take at least four years to engineer and develop a new roadster. That would hint at a possible 2010 launch for the Z2, one year after BMW plans to introduce a successor to today's Z4. ^The bullet. Read "Whispers: BMW Ponders Miata-Fighting Z2 Roadster" @ Edmunds ^The link.
August 18, 200619 yr When I read the title of this thread I thought: Kappa sized Nissan 240Z. Nissan needs to make an old school, retro, "Scion like" lineup of RWD cars for cheap $$$ and call them Datsuns. Start with a super-minimalist 510 hardtop, 4dr sedan & a 240Z stlye little drifting special. [/tangent]
August 18, 200619 yr BMW would be smarter to make a Z6, I think. Aren't sales of the Z4 going to tank if there's something less expensive sitting right next to it? And I don't think a Z6 would suffer from Z4 taking its sales because it'd be significantly bigger and more expensive.
