GM sales up?

Featured Replies

Well Friday I overheard 1 of the head business managers discussing how GM was breathing down our dealerships back for being down...

GM apparently is up 13% (and it might just be a certain segment, or just overall)

but our dealership (2nd largest in western Devision) is down on sales...

so i got to thinking... What is up 13%...?

did anyone notice a certain segment that last month was up 13%?

and why would our store be down?

if comparing between augusts sales... I wonder if this has to do with inventory from 2005? because August we still had lots of inventory... durring GMS last year we blew out 1500 brand new chevys in just 4 months... the inventory crunch never hit us last year really

but our dealership (2nd largest in western Devision) is down on sales...

So who is number one, not that I doubt for a moment that number two tries harder. :CG_all:

On a realted topic, I see televison adds here and at the end say Southern California is Chevies biggest market. Did I understand this correctly?

well you see that's a trick question... because I'm led to believe socal is the largest market for all automanufacures...

but the best in cali is threeway up in bakersfeild.. they have no competition tho... they are the only chevy dealership in like 50 miles of their location...

we compete with over 100 differerent chevy dealerships in the los angeles county and surrounding areas... so to be second best is an accomplishment

but I'm wondering what is up by 13%. last month I didn't see any improvements over the previos year.. was july up 13% up over july?

or is it talking about I'd august results?

Wow, the only dealer in 50 miles? NO wonder you guys sell 400+ cars a month! There are 40 GM dealers in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), fighting over a populaton base of about 4 million. Toyota has 21 dealers in the same market area. Let me tell you, our Toyota store sells more cars on a SATURDAY than we do in a month! I've seen our numbers sink by 50% in the 8+ years that I've been here, but then losing the Olds franchise 2 years ago didn't help either. I mean, I have lots of Alero leases that I have nothing to give them. Chev/Olds was always paired up here in the hinterland, so it has been a blow to many Chev stores to lose Oldsmobile.

The blood bath is going to get worse up here as I watch the unveiling of product over at the P-B-G side. Let's face it: up here, a customer can get the Acadia and Enclave over at our competitors up the street, plus the Torrent, Yukon and SV6! What do we have? The Tahoe (doesn't sell), Equinox and Uplander. I know Chevrolet is a power house in the States, but up here many of the Pontiac/GMC models outsell the Chevrolet versions (ie, the Sierra outsells the Silverado), so what GM is doing for Pontiac/Buick and Saturn is going to greatly effect Chevrolet up here. Pontiac has 2 convertibles now (not that they are huge sellers in Canada) and all Chevrolet has is the Corvette and we've sold, like, 4 this year.

Our sales are holding their own, but when you are sub-100 deals a month it doesn't matter anyway LOL
