August 30, 200619 yr Does this car have one of the plastic gaskets or is it the newer redesigned type?
September 5, 200619 yr It'll be a plastic base for the gasket with rubber/silicone beads for the sealing surfaces. They do pretty well as long as you keep the anti-freeze changed and you don't use a ton of RTV (silicone gasket maker) if you ever have to replace it, since the RTV does a nice job of slowly eating the plastic up.
September 5, 200619 yr i'm pretty sure that the 2004+ is the newer aluminum one instead of the rubber stuff...
September 6, 200619 yr then it maybe the one that Victor Rienz supplies us is a plastic-base with rubber/silicone beads. I took a look at it yesterday.

September 11, 200619 yr I believe its the same style gasket on ALL the 3.8L Series II engines. The Series III in the 04 Monte should be basically the same, lower-intake manifold wise. Now the plenum gaskset (upper intake manifold) will be different, just like the Supercharged engines have different plenum gasksets, due to mounting hte S/C
