Clubsport

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, GM offers a clubsport package for the Solstice as well as some track only accessories to meet SCCA requirements which allow you to take your new Solstice racing at the local road course.

My question is, what do you think of GM offering a clubsport package for the new Camaro?

I'd be for it, but I get the feeling it'll create confusion with the possible Z/28 asd SS packages.

Any clubsport would, by definition, be a Z28.

In the other thread, "Camaro trim," I posted that maybe Z28 should be a performance handling package on the SS, so this would work well, I think.

Oh, then I'm all for it.

That's pretty much exactly what I was about to post..

I hope they do this and take it beyond the 1LEs of the past as far as content goes.

I want a 5th Gen 1LE-R for race. A Z/28 version of the Mustang Cobra R.

My Dream 1LE-R would be Base Car with;

High Rev 5.3 or 5.7

Minimum 350HP at the Wheels

Race Ready T56 6 speed

Alum Driveshaft

No AC

22 gal ATL fuel cell

Autometer Guages

Penske adj shocks

17"x 9.5" light weight wheels

6 piston front brakes

Back seat delete

Radio Delete

Factory 8 pnt 1 3/4" DOM Roll cage

Emissions Delete (option)

Factory headers

Heavy Duty Coil overs

front splitter

Functional rear spoiler

No sound deadening

Light weight everything

and last but not least sell this Camaro for less than 50K to Road Racers only.

Agreed all around. :)

Yes! But make it easy to look street legal so us folks in states not saddled with emmisions testing can drive them. :D:ohyeah:

Something tells me I struck a nerve with this topic.

Chevy would be smart to do things like this to expand the legend rather than simply milking its past.

I'd like to see Camaros everywhere in motorsports (well, not NASCAR).

Unique factory packages will go a long way toward this car being taken seriously.
