Paris Preview: Audi Q7 V12 TDI

Posted Image

Friday, we brought you the initial report that Audi would be dropping a 6.0-liter V12 TDI based on it's Le Mans-winning engine into the Q7 SUV. That report has been confirmed today with the release of additional details and photos from Audi, which will publicly unveil the beast later this month at the Paris show.

Our initial report rated the car at 500 hp, but it's actually just shy, at 493 (the 500 rating is in PS). It also generates 1000 Nm / 738 lb-ft of torque, so if you ever feel inclined to pull your house off its foundation, you'll be well-prepped to give it the 'ol college try (if the car makes it to this side of the Atlantic).

Would it be cheaper to get one of these imported through semi-legal means or just move to Europe?

738 ft-lb!!!!!!

Man! Does anything beat that other than maybe the Veyron?

Oh yes.

The 6.0 L V12 Biturbo M275 AMG produces 604 hp and 738 lb-ft.

Peugeot's 5.5 L V12 diesel produces 690 hp and 885 lb-ft, but that is primarily a racing engine itended to beat Audi's 641 hp, 810 lb-ft racing V12.

Cool engine but those large black holes in the front are horrible.

Air ducts...kind of remind me of the Murcielago or Ferrari F360...
