September 20, 200619 yr Will Chrysler Restructure as Well? DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche said Tuesday that the automaker will cut output by 90,000 vehicles in the third quarter -- up from previous estimates of about 75,000 -- and another 45,000 in the fourth quarter to bring dealer inventories more in line with consumer demand and make room in showrooms for new models that will roll out later this year. Zetsche also said the Auburn Hills-based automaker may have to take more drastic cost-cutting measures in the wake of last week's announcement that Chrysler will lose $1.5 billion in the third quarter, more than double its July estimate of $600 million in red ink, and report a loss of $1.2 billion for the year. September 26, 200619 yr What the ??? 1.2billion for the year, 1.5billion for the third quarter? Amazing.
September 26, 200619 yr wow, this bad news from other companies keeps coming in.... well in the long run, it'll be very good for them if the worst doesn't happen first. not that it'd be good, but it'd be funny to see them have to be bought by someone else again!
September 27, 200619 yr Chrysler should restructure. It will help them out tremendously. I heard the UAW wouldn't grant any health care cuts to Chrysler because they aren't in SERIOUS trouble... YET.
September 29, 200619 yr I don't know if the UAW would go with the GM and Ford type of restructuring because IIRC DCX is about to make $6.5B this year.
