Chrysler Recalls 100,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees

Featured Replies

WASHINGTON — DaimlerChrysler AG's (DCX) Chrysler Group said Friday it would recall more than 100,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicles because water contamination of the transmission fluid could lead to fires under the hood.

The recall involves 2005 model year vehicles with 3.7 liter engines and automatic transmissions, the automaker said, accounting for about 45 percent of all Jeep Grand Cherokees (search) sold from that year.

[sarcasm] Chrysler makes crappy transmissions!? YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!![/sarcasm]
@ Petra
And the funniest part, is that the transmission is not even made by Chrysler, it's made by Mercedes!.......but I guess the article decided not to mention that.

For 2005, the Jeep Grand Cherokee retains its signature shape and size, with projector-style round headlights up front, and more modern engines under the hood. The Hemi and 3.7 replace the 4.7 High-Output and 4.0 respectively, while the 4.7 continues. The 3.7 is mated with a Mercedes five-speed, the V8s with a Chrysler five-speed automatic with dual second gears. http://www.allpar.com/model/jeep/grand-cherokee-2005.html
