The leather in the '07 Sierra

Featured Replies

Went to the TEXAS state fair today...and saw all the new :gm_logo: trucks (except for the HDs). The leather compares to the leather in my wife's old BMW. It was truly incredible to see that kind of material quality in a pickup. Everything else looked good about those trucks, but the leather was amazing....

That's pretty high praise, I wanna get a closer look myself

I had a similar reaction on my first try of a new Tahoe and Yukon, especially compared to the sub-vinyl G-A-R-B-A-G-E they used for leather in the '03-06 models--the stuff that shined and felt like plastic, and is known to stretch, crease, and even wear and crack without a whole lot of use.

The new stuff is a lot thicker, textured, and softer, and lets hope it stays that way--because, in truth, the '99-02 GMT-800's had very nice soft leather as well, then they changed to save pennies.

Wow, excellent news!

How was the Work Truck interior?

I didn't look at a work truck, but did look at and sat in some SLE's with fabric seats. The fabric wasn't my favorite, but there were some nice features like the different instrument panel and with the light colored seats, the carpet was black. The dash was not cheap, but was definately geared more towards functionality as opposed to the pretty SLT dash. Didn't look like an afterthought.

I own a '93 Chevy Silverado, that I purchased new (back before you could get leather), and the seats still look almost new. That's not an exaggeration. The interior has held up extremely well. The new ones might hold up well too, but they don't feel as nice as the fabric in my '93. Feels more like backpack material than soft fabric.

Caddycruiser is exactly right. The leather was thick and heavily grained. Smelled like real leather too. That has to be more expensive than what GM was previously doing. My '04 Suburban has leather, but it's more like plastisized leather.
