September 17, 200520 yr Two year later I'm still waiting for a 5th gen. Camaro. When I opened up my copy of R&T and saw this I almost fell out of my Chair. I was working at Chevrolet of Lowell at the time as a salesman. I took it as a sign that within a few months, or certainly a year a ground up 5th gen. retro-69 Camaro would be hitting the streets. Meantime here it is Sept. 2005 and still nothing. Thank You Ramones. :) Edited September 17, 200520 yr by Sixty8panther
September 17, 200520 yr I just hope and pray that when it does come, it's as friendly to everyone from secretaries to gearheads as those great old Camaros were, because if it's a "boutique" car like the SSR, it will fail miserably and all the naysayers will be able to say "I told you a 2+2, RWD coupe wouldn't sell!" That would be an epic tragedy.

As long as it holds the basics it will be a hit.

[post="15645"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post] Actually, thanks to all the hype and excitement (and unnecessary rabidness), it'll be very hard for GM to get it perfectly right. Look at all the disagreements and arguments people get into right here over the shape of the taillamp clusters much less the overall styling, interior layout, and powertrain options. I just hope that, unlike what happened with the GTO, all the people who don't like the new Camaro if/when it ever comes will just deal with it. If its not retro, deal with it. If it is retro, deal with it. And just be glad you have not one but three affordable high-performance cars - the Corvette, GTO, and Camaro - being made for you. Because I still believe GM has far better things to do like giving Buick a flagship car and giving Pontiac some decent passenger cars than listen to enthusiast-du-jour whine and have a period because the positioning of the parking lamps "ain't like I thought that 'Maro should be."
September 17, 200520 yr I think most of those arguments are petty. It's really pretty pointless to argue about something you have no idea about AND have no control over. We have to leave it in the hands of the creators and hope for the best. I am confident the final product we will end up with will be something amazing. If it looks anything like that Camaro in the picture, I will be very happy.
September 17, 200520 yr Oh Fly... we've all done it with every new car introduced... plus, the line between love and hate can be very thin.
September 17, 200520 yr It wouldnt stand a chance, it will be 20 hp to little, 2 gear changes too short, Mustang wanna be, Charger wanna be, dash not like a Hondas, wheels too small, overly retro, not enough like the origional, and priced way to high
