October 24, 200619 yr Appears to be pretty nice looking...the Landcruiser is one of those vehicles that Toyota seems to have kept true to its roots. Toyota’s top of the line model, the big off-roader Landcruiser, underwent a minor facelift in 2005. Here now are photos showing a prototype of the next generation Landcruiser / Lexus, which will be an all new car. Caught during secret testing in southern Europe, the crew of engineers from Japan and Belgium had the current Landcruiser as well as a Mercedes ML for comparison along with the prototype. As can be seen despite the burly disguise, the next Landcruiser gets a rounder styling than the current rather square model. Engines are expected to range again from a V6 diesel to a V8 petrol power plant. The styling of the passengers compartment looks like it will become even more luxurious than now including more wood paneling and chrome. The new Landcruiser should be ready for release some time in 2007. October 24, 200619 yr I've always liked/respected the Land Cruiser, while always hating the Sequoia. It looks pretty similar to the current one.
October 24, 200619 yr So, can the pointless Sequoia die now?The "pointless Sequoia" is priced TENS of thousands of dollars less. I rather thought the smaller and more expensive Land Cruiser was "pointless" after the introduction of the Sequoia...and yet they sold and made millions for Toyota. More power to them.
October 24, 200619 yr Not in the US—the Landcruiser sells just a few hundred a month, even fewer than the LX470, and relentlessly falling. Even overseas the old J100 is just a minor part of the Toyota lineup. The smaller, cheaper J120 (GX470 in the US) has taken over. It doesn't help that the J100's old 4.2 L I6 turbodiesel is less efficient than GM's 4.8 L V8.
