I have yet to see someone under 60 in an xa or element, though I choose the xa because the whole brand line was for the youth.

The don't sell Scions up here in the hinterland (thank God), but every person I've seen in a PT Cruiser has an oxygen mask on. I used to think that car was cool until it became the hit of Happdale Acres. And the Element is the ugliest damned vehicle EVER. It makes the Aztek look like a first generation Riviera - timeless and cool. I don't care what age buys one, they all need to have their eyes checked.

That's what I voted. Most of the Sciaons I see (even the tC) are driven my Baby boomers. <_<

I didn't consider the PT Cruiser because I forgot the original intent was to lure younger buyers. That's how ingrained my "old people's car" image is for the little guy.

One thing that is really interesting how a certain car's demographic can be quite different in different markets.... in the US I think of the Civic as a teenager or twentysomething's car, but i read that in the UK the average age buyer for the current model is 58!

Yeah, it's wierd...I know 3 people that have xBs and 2 people with Elements--all are 50 or older. Though I did have a coworker my age (35) that had an Element but he recently traded it for a new 325i.

You know why? The Civic is really sedate compared to the Astras, 206es, Golfs, and Meganes they have to choose from. Plus youngstas would likely buy even smaller cars or something older.

Honda is an old man's brand out there. Even in Japan, the tuner crowd will more likely grip a Toyota or Nissan....Honda's boy racer image came from thin air in this country.

Noboy under 40 drives a PT cruiser unless they got it cheap!

Honda Element. It's the biggest Youth flop there is IMO. I've seen a variety of age groups driving the others but NEVER have I seen someone under 30 driving the Element... the "Dorm Room on Wheels" has failed.

Targeting a particular group, whether by age or gender often does not work. There are so many other influences going on in pop culture and trends can change overnight. And the models introduced today were conceived much earlier.

Out of the three xB's I've seen... each were driven by gray/white haired ladies. Elements are up there too... I've seen more, so not all had discolored hair. Actually one was by a 20-something blonde... :P But it is a big exception. :D

Don;t get me wrong, if I HAD to buy a Scion it would be the goofy xB over the other two. The mini-Astro styling is a bit endearing.

I'd have to go with any the xB, those are mainly driven by older people. I've seen all ages of people in Elements, the reason I think younger people dont buy them is, well, the reason I didn't buy one. Most of what I see on lots are LX AWD, so the sticker isn't exactly cheap, although getting an LX means you get an ABS discount on the insurance. I just think it is a little overpriced for the 18-24 crowd. Looks cool in my eyes though.

So unlike what toyota is telling the press, what we notice is the scion lineup is made for the elderly. My Grandmother liked the xa because it had nice flat seats that where soft like a Buick. :)
