1964 Buick Electra 225 Convertible - 620 hp

Featured Replies

Now this is a cool Buick...the 1964 Buick Electra 225 Convertible with 620 hp at SEMA 2006. Doesn't Electra sound so much better than Lucerne?

I'm sorry, I can't get myself to really appreciate this car.

I see a long rectangular box with a windshield sticking out of it.

The power is impressive, but I - like QuadA - can't like how it looks. White is bad enough, but combined with those rims, it looks like a DUB toy.

Classier...

I'm not a huge fan of this generation of big Buicks, but there's nothing stylistically wrong with it, just on the plain side. This treatment, tho, is not great: the rims suck ass, the car is riding too high (inches higher than stock!), and any convert with 600+ HP needs a hard boot; not a folded top. White car on white background doesn't help the impact here either. I hope it's running Buick power.

Buick was working on turbocharging even back in this era but decided there may have been certain longevity issues with 800+ HP (liability not a concern??), so they offered 360 instead.

It's a clean design, but I agree: Buick (other than perhaps the stunning Riviera) went through a bland stage in the mid-60s. Probably a reaction to the excesses of the '57-'60 era.

Although the '60s are my favorite design era, I was always partial to the styling of the Mopar products.

Well I love it.... 4" whitewalls on appropriate steel rims

with 15" hubcaps and baby blue paint would complete

this car for me. I too prefer the 4dr hardtop over the

ragtop but I'd take a 1959 over either. :D
