More STis on the Way? (Not just Imprezas...)

Our SEMA show coverage details the hardware on Subaru’s Forester Sports 2.5 XT concept, but here’s the extra bit of info: This might be a concept today, but before long you can expect this car and a Legacy, both wearing STI badges and fitted with all the hot STI hardware, in Subaru showrooms alongside the fan-favorite Impreza WRX STI.

No.

No to Forester, yes to Legacy.

No to Forester, yes to Legacy.

Hey, what granola-eating paper-pusher just riced out their Forester?

I don't get you guys...I must be on the wrong car site. Seems you all want more HP, AWD(or at least RWD), manual trans, and killer looks.

Yet you completely toss aside the idea of a Forester STi? Okay so the thing isn't the best looker out of the box (it almost is a box), but I for one applaud Subaru for going this direction to build some excitement for the brand. I've also seen some tricked out Foresters, and must admit they look mean!

So now we have an opportunity to have a vehicle that has good HP from the turbo 4, AWD, a manual trans, and arguably good looks...oh yeah and now you can actually tote around your kids comfortably and fit plenty of groceries, strollers, etc to boot. Go Subaru!

I don't think anyone is doubting its street cred, just that it looks silly. I mean, honestly, it looks something done by the same type of person that makes a 'Caprice Estate SS', an 'Alpina' 325i, or an Accord 'Type R' - take a stock Forrester and WRXify it. It doesn't fit in my eyes looks-wise, but hey, to each his own.

All you clarified was that your personal preference is a concept "Evolander" versus a concept Forester STi. The only difference at this point in time is that the Outlander is styled completely different than this version, whereas the Forester is a simpler bolt-on affair based on the current offering. For all we know the next generation Outlander will bear many resemblences to this concpet taking away its only standout difference.

Your also muddying(SP?) the water more by encouraging an Outlander with Evo components, but at the same time dissing the Forester for using STi components. Besides looks these 2 are using the same equation...

That is the next-generation Outlander. Just check out Mitsubishi's Website. It's no concept, it's the actual 2007 model.

I prefer the "Evo"lander. That's all I was attempting to clarify. :)

Fair enough...

I didn't realize it had already been established as production. The latest Autoweek called it a "special concept ute". That's cool for Mitsu, definitely better than current model. Come to think of it, I have seen the commercial as well.
