Look at what these jerks did to this poor old Cutlass

Click

Where do those pansies live? I'm gonna go out there to God forsaken Kansas or where ever and punk their dumb asses.

Hey, at least they didn't part the thing out and make money off of it, or anything. I'm willing to bet that nobody in the world needs a nose for a '71-'72 Cutlass during the height of the muscle car craze, so they did the right thing.

:duh: x 1000

A bunch of dumb rednecks out having a laugh, it looks like... it least it was just a worn-out 4dr, not a 442 w-30 or something... they could have used something truly worthless, though, like an '80s Ciera..

I was hoping the thing would break a u-joint while they were dragging that Horizon around the lonesome prairie, but the damn truck is like a rock!

Oh come on...you guys are too uptight...They were just having a little fun! :P

Hmm... obviously Nick didn't click on the link to their other video, the one with the 5 Series in the skater park? :scratchchin:

I actually checked to make sure you were joking...

:AH-HA_wink:

It wa old, was gonna happen soon enough. I like Oldsmobiles, but that was just pure entertainment, no offense to sdie-hard Olds fans.

That's just sick.

Yeah I was giving that old truck a nod of approval when I saw it truckin' along 8)

Disgusting, sad & unexcusable.

Yeah def, I saw your little face up there on the comments.

Somebody should do that to one of those rice-grinders. Then we will see if these same people think it is so funny. I sure as hell would.

But Equinox, there are no 1972 Japanese cars left to destroy. They've all self-recycled by now, mere piles of iron oxide and cheap, thin, brittle vinyl.

As much as I hate Toyota & Honda I wouold not be laughing

if this was a 1972 Toyota Corona or whatever...maybe I'd

be laughing if it was a 1976 Honda CVCC but even a few

Japanese cars from that era have enough redeming value

to make something like this inexcusable. Can you imagine a

1972 Datsun 510 sedan treated this way? I'd be upset.

510s came factory-equipped as junk.

If Datsun 510 were such junk why did they kick BMWs butt

in racing and become cult classics. Yes, I agree that

compared to a 1968 GTO the Datsun 510 is almost worthless

but then again I'd crush and melt down every Japanese car

made in the past two decades to save just ONE 1970 Nissan

Bluebird (510) Hardtop SSS.

Japanese cars peeked in the late '70s in terms of fun factor,

value, variety, originality & coolness. Late 1970s Japanese

cars were true to their promisse, cheap econoboxes that

afforded average quality, good MPG & decent bang for the

buck while still offering a few cool styling elements, even if

they were all ripped off late 60s American cars. I have a

soft spot for many of those cheap-steel death traps, esp.

the hardtop ones. True affordable RWD in a cute package.

510's were junk............now 710's were creme puffs

:)

Im with XP on this one, not really using their heads. But then I also know a thing or two about getting rid of so called "classic car parts" Usually not enough to cover the time dismantling let alone prepareing for shipping.

See, all that sounds like blahblahblahblahblah when you look at one...

Variety? They all looked the same. Originality? Get real. Cool styling elements? Like a ripoff Falcon, Dart, or Nova grille? Average quality? Try poor. Heard of rust? These things did.

Razor: have you visited ebay recently???

No not really, every once in awhile under Lancia. Most brands have to many pages of junk now compared to 5 years ago. Takes forever to load and longer to go through. Why ? Whats up ?

I dont know much about the 510, but the Datsun L series SOHC engines and drivetrain was excellent compared to anything else around. They were meeting emissions without cat. converter, producing ? -60-75% of the HP comming from a Domestic V8 @ 25+ mpg.

75 Datsun L20B 2000cc had 110hp @ 25+mpg

75 Oldsmobile 350 ?5300cc? had 180hp @ 12-15 maybe 17 mpg.

no match on torque Im sure.

Great brakes, great handling. Rust was bad, the Japs were the first to use the lighter sheet that everyone uses today, only back then there was no galvanization yet. Everything rusted bad, the domestic's just still had heavier gauge sheet. I remember an early boattail Riv that I could have bought in 76 that was some kind of rust bucket. Stlying.........eh......they had their points but yes everybody knows early Japanese cars were monkey see monkey do. Borrow this and that and add a weird twist. What the Japanese really did was look at what the Italians were doing with power plants and refine it and make them reliable. Also the 510's probably more closely resembled early Fiats. While the fastback cars like the 710 and Celica GT stole from American styling, like the Mustang. Z car styling was a combo of various Ferraris, like a 275 GTB meets a 365GTB Daytona.

Anyone can think what they want but those early Datsuns with the L series engines were the beginning of the scenerio of what has come to be today. They were also the end for Brit and Italian cars in the US market.

So whos laughin now ?
