November 13, 200619 yr The little known 1977 Chevrolet Concours: Edited November 13, 200619 yr by HarleyEarl
November 13, 200619 yr Before this gussied-up Nova, I think the Concours name was used on a gussied-up Chevelle sedan and wagon. Not to mention the much later sporty Cadillac Deville.
November 13, 200619 yr Author Probably not the best name to use...it's a bit lofty, given the car it was attached to. It was a strange strategy for Chevy to have this as a separate model. No one was really fooled. Probably an early indication of GM going in the wrong direction. It was just a Nova with nicer velour.
November 13, 200619 yr Author Nice collectible to have! Has to be rare. This was not a well-known model.

I find them facinating...a little historical snapshot of the car, the car company and the culture at the time.

The pics are on the way to my buddy Ray B, who will post 'em on the website as soon as he can ... once done, I'll link ya .
November 18, 200619 yr The Concours 2-door's 4" thick B-pillar is exactly 4" thicker than all the cool 1960s Chevrolet 2dr. cars that I'm into. Cool stuff though.
November 19, 200619 yr Author Here's some interesting accessories that were options in the '52 Chevrolet brochure. Dig that traffic light gizmo and the bitchin tailpipe extender with the bowtie insert.
November 19, 200619 yr Author That is so cool...never seen that before...I luv those big two door Blazers.
November 20, 200619 yr Author Which is your favorite Monte?...I like the first and second generations the best.
November 20, 200619 yr I like the '70-'72 and '81-'87 the best. For factory performance, the newest SS is the quickest ever. Of course, the older RWD ones can be modified to infinity for performance. If Chevrolet is truly discontinuing the nameplate again next summer, I sincerely hope they send the car out with respect. Advertise it without cartoon characters, for one thing. The new, RWD Impala needs a coupe companion, imo. Calling it Impala would help with sales figures.
November 21, 200619 yr Which is your favorite Monte?...I like the first and second generations the best. I actually like all 4 of the original generations ... and don't really have a "favorite" per se. But, I tend to like the advertising/brochures for the 1st generation best...tho, not sure why. *shrugs* If Chevrolet is truly discontinuing the nameplate again next summer, I sincerely hope they send the car out with respect. I don't think they know how to do that ... since they didn't do it in '87 ... and thumbed their noses in the faces of their enthusiasts even more with the last couple generations. Heh ... I got tired of watching the baseball games because every other commercial break were commercials about how Chevy is baseball's # 1 fan ... too bad they don't care about their own fans/enthusiasts..... *sighs* Sorry....struck a nerve, I guess.... *shrugs* Cort:33swm."Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip".pig valve.pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "Who do you think you’re talkin’ to?" ... November 21, 200619 yr Which is your favorite Monte?...I like the first and second generations the best. A friend had a new 1970 with the 454 very nice. Girlfriend had a new '75 which I thought was very decent. Chevy delear Co-worker had the '77 Monte loaded (captains chairs) all in black very nice as well. I remember the concours option but I only saw a couple actual cars. I think that option played off the Seville. Edited November 21, 200619 yr by mjdart
