Dorschel Buick (Rochester, NY) had a production version of a new Lucerne CXS on display last week. I'm not sure it if is still there or not. It wasn't for sale, they were using it to generate interest I guess. It was open and fully accessable. I was all over it. Very nice for a big ol' 4 door sedan. Much better looking in person than in pictures. They also had it sitting right next to a LeSabre, which just made the LeSabre look all the more crappy.

I think that was the same dealership I got my pictures from, only it was part of its tour. It was definitely inaccessible. Let us know how it felt to sit in it (you did sit in it, right? right?!)

the lucerne is going to be a nice ride all buick ride smooth but people just dont realize that they are good cars.All the people i know with buicks they have ones from the 80s and 70s and they still run great.Forget imports its all about ridein clean.

Well, I guess I'd say the materials are in the same vein as the Lacrosse, maybe a little better but it's been a while since I was in a Lacrosse so I can't say for sure. Everything seemed well put together and sitting in it was definitely more comfortable (for me, anyway) than sitting in the LeSabre. I hated the seats in the LeSabre and they felt too close to the floor. The Lucerne sits higher and the seats were more comfortable, especially in the back. The CXS looks good with the 18" wheels. I'm guessing at the size, so I could be wrong about that, but they did look good!

I hope they are better than the LaCrosse's, because if they are the same as the LaCrosse's then it's going to get creamed by the press. The Avalon has far superior materials to the LaCrosse, and if a $40k Lucerne can't at least MATCH the materials of a $30k Avalon, that's just sad.

I don't recall LaCrosse's interior materials getting complaints. It was the conservative styling and the "wood trim" pattern that received complaints. The interior materials for the LaCrosse (cloth headliner, soft touch plastics, protein leather) received VERY good reviews.

(formerly "tannersoc") You are right....it was primarily the center stack that received the most flack....

The new center stack in the Lucerne appears to utilize the same radio and HVAC controls as in the new Impala....and those are damn near spot on...

The LaCrosse DOES avoid the hard plastics that are found all over the new Impala's interior....so I'm sure that Lucerne will have little, if any, tacky hard plastics.

I like the LaCrosse's interior, but I stand by my two comments I've said in the past: Need real wood, and need to jazz up the center stack. Way too much unused space. Could have done something a little nicer with the climate control so it's not just a mish-mash of buttons--could have put maybe a dial for each temp control.

The CXS model I saw was silver with black interior. It had a very dark gray, nearly black, colored "wood" on the dash. I'm assuming it was supposed to be wood. From what I remember, it was pretty shiny, so maybe it was supposed to be granite??
