November 28, 200619 yr PRESS RELEASE: GM @ LAIAS 2008 CADILLAC XLR PLATINUM LOS ANGELES – An elegant tradition of hand-crafted luxury is being redefined for a new generation, as Cadillac today introduces the Platinum Series for the XLR roadster and STS and DTS sedans. The Platinum Series is a limited-edition collection of vehicles including additional elegant design touches, and continues Cadillac’s reinvention of its interior styling and appointments. Cadillac’s landmark V-series extended the brand’s credentials into the elite-level performance arena. Now the Platinum Series aims to do the same in the luxury direction. The vehicles were inspired by the very popular Escalade ESV Platinum that was offered between the 2004 and 2006 model years and introduced many new luxury features to the luxury SUV marketplace. “The Platinum Series is a natural addition to the Cadillac brand, extending the luxury appeal of our products,” said Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor. “Platinum also joins the new 2007 SRX and our V-Series cars as examples of Cadillac’s return to hand-crafted interiors, an important addition to the ongoing renaissance of the brand.” Cadillac’s limited-edition Platinum models feature ultra-premium details such as a generous use of chrome, authentic wood and luxurious upholstery, as well as Cadillac’s precision hand-crafted interiors, executed by craftsmen who cut, wrap and sew cabin components individually. The XLR roadster has taken a starring role in Cadillac’s new emphasis on dramatic styling and serious performance. Now the XLR Platinum maximizes the elegance of Cadillac’s entry into the elite club of luxury roadsters. XLR Platinum features exclusive 15-spoke, 18-inch wheels, with a brighter chrome finish for the grille and an exclusive Liquid Amethyst exterior color and exclusive Platinum badge. Inside, the XLR Platinum features appointments such as authentic olive ash burl wood and a Cashmere interior color. The instrument panel “upper,” and door trim feature hand cut, sewn and wrapped leather. Other cabin appointments include olive ash burl wood inserts on the steering wheel and luxurious Alcantara suede headliner, visors and pillars, and additional Platinum badging on the sill plate. The Cadillac XLR Platinum will be available in the first quarter of 2007.
November 28, 200619 yr What, no interior shots? I remarked in another thread, that shade of purple is similar to what was on the Neiman Marcus Edition XLR.
November 28, 200619 yr The XLR needs to be redone completely. Give it a Corvette-like exterior evolution and a brand new interior.
November 28, 200619 yr Just noticed your screen name: Jim Cramer fan are you? 221135 I've been using it longer than he has I think ESPN has too. But the word "Booyah" has a couple different spellings. "Booya," "Booyeah" This one I figured out myself years, upon years ago. I'm sure he did too.
November 28, 200619 yr I like the XLR exterior, but its interior, depreciation, sophistication, and performance relative to the cheaper Corvette makes it difficult to justify.
November 29, 200619 yr +1 221124 Count me in on that one as well.... I don't know why the new trend at GM is to slap the ugliest, auto parts store-hubcap like wheels on all the Cadillacs. MOST of the new Cadillac wheels are GOD-AWEFUL (The new CTS offerings... These... All but the largest of the DTS and Escalade offerings... The STS-V and XLR-V offerings) and it seems that the trend started at last years SEMA show. GM, seriously.... It seems that the Cadillac revival is losing steam and it's becoming pathetic how unattractive and "tacked on" the vehicles are starting to look. We know you can do better.
November 29, 200619 yr Author DeVille/DTS wheels have always looked good, especially this turbine style they had on the DHS for a few years.

November 30, 200619 yr What, no interior shots? I remarked in another thread, that shade of purple is similar to what was on the Neiman Marcus Edition XLR. 221053 exactly my thoughts on color. Wheel choice is not the best on this one.
November 30, 200619 yr I happen to like the paint and love the wheels, a freshing wouldn't hurt the XLR tho. Maybe for 2009?
March 8, 200719 yr This needs to be freshened very soon. A car with fantasy land pricing needs to look a bit more impressive than this. Edited March 8, 200719 yr by ponchoman49
