Lexus Premieres the LX470 Limited Edition

November 28, 2006 – Torrance, CA - Lexus today announced pricing for the 2007 LX 470 Limited Edition luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV). The LX 470 Limited Edition will be available as a special option package containing unique exterior and interior features that will be priced at $410. The base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the 2007 LX 470 will remain unchanged at $67,395.

Every LX 470 Limited Edition will receive Black Onyx exterior and color-coded scuff plates. Exterior features will include 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a Liquid Graphite finish, and chrome door handles, beltline accent and exhaust tip. Finally, chrome Limited Edition exterior badges will be displayed on the front driver and passenger doors.

On the inside, all LX 470 Limited Editions will come equipped with a Stone leather interior. Features will include a Black Bird's-Eye Maple wood trim, and Black floor mats and a cargo mat, each with a Gray Limited Edition logo.

Only 400 of these special LX 470s will be produced for the entire U.S. market. The LX 470 Limited Edition will make its public debut on December 1 at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show and will reach Lexus dealer showrooms in early December.

Yawn...looks pretty dated.

And people complain that the Trailblazer is too old. This is just getting ridiculous and the fact that I haven't seen one article slamming Toyota for keeping this model and the Land Cruiser unchanged for so long is making me more p.o.ed at the bias in the automotive media.

People with more money than brains, I guess. What's funny is that if you just change your sentence around a bit, such as changing the price and age of the vehicle, that statement is true for a lot of Toyotas over the past few years, but for whatever reason they sell.

This vehicle was always a joke to me, even more than the H2 in many cases.

If this thing was offered in a very stripped down model, like it was in the good ol' days, it'd make a mean off roader, but instead, it's an insult to the hardy Toyota SUV's of yore that got used for their real purpose.

The LX470 is a confusing vehicle. It is $70,000, completely dated and not stylish what-so-ever. It doesn't look luxury, it just looks oddly shaped, something like an off-roader. Add to the fact that it is barely visually differentiated from the Land Cruiser, the only big difference is the head lights. And yet they still manage to find 500+ people per month to buy them. There must be some really good lease deals.

The same can be said about the GX, which is better but still dated (at least it doesn't look mis-proportioned).

You know... A vehicle of prehistoric age and design, selling for rediculous amounts of money... Because it's so old that it's "retro" and in style?

I like the Land Cruiser, although I prefer the earlier I6 versions to the current (since 98ish) V8 model. I really dont get why one would spend an extra $15k on an LX.

It is a very dated and lame SUV. I think it is going to be replaced in the next few years on the new Tundra platform, if at all.

Really old, but strangely enough, still one of the best built and most refined AND tough SUV's on the planet. I think of this and the Land Cruiser like fine wines. Maybe not the latest trends, or even some of the coolest gadgets (though they're not missing much), but years later, they're still amazing in most every regard aside from looks.

So, you may not have the flash of being in a latest Escalade, for example, but everyday you could be enamored with the ungodly terrific quality and refinement, for a feel that's worth the price. At least IMHO... :AH-HA_wink:

The Land Cruiser, yes. The LX has never, ever been worth its $10-15k premium.
