What's the scoop on the Saturn concept? Year, notable features? I like the interior color scheme, tho I can't say why. It's not for me, but it sure is different and, I think, attractive in some way or other... maybe solely because it's different. It sure is earthy.... and pond-y.

It was created in 1999 for the 2000 auto show season and was Saturn's very first concept car. The CV1 is a six-door design with rear suicide doors for easier third-row access. Its a five-seater with two jumpseats that drop down (Element) for children. The rear seats slide (Odyssey) and fold completely flat (Stow-'n-Go) to accomodate even a wheelchair.

It was powered by a 4-cyl 2.2l Ecotec sending power through a CVT (Quest again) to all four wheels - AWD. It was also the size of a contemporary SL sedan, making it compact and sporty (Mazda5).

This again just proves how uninnovative and behind-the-times GM is.

Yes but it's been changed since then.

BTW, the Quest uses a traditional automatic.

The Saturn looks like it has a wrinkle in the brown part of the dash, left of the instrument cluster.

Odd, if you look at the roof of the Saturn, it is relatively flat, yet the side rails undulate, including the glass.

The Concept Quest looks mean in the 3/4 view, with those huge tires and wheels. The concept, sadly, didn't translate as successfully in production.

Saturn should have a tiny vanlike thing similar to that concept in production now.

They were innovative... but also sucked at modern industrial design. This and the Aztek both look like they were designed by an 8-year-old with a bag of felt tips.

And I'm sure you know there were jumpseats (Montero), sliding rear seats ('99 Odyssey), flat-folding rear seats ('95 Odyssey), CVTs (Volvo 340), and compact vans (Opel Zafira) well before 2000. :AH-HA_wink:

I feel like I'm on Saturn when I look at the CV1's dash. Crazy color scheme, but I actually sort of like it. Real quirky but/yet/and love-able.

note that the ions speaker covers came from this concept

Yup... the Saturn CV1 is the 2nd coolest Minivan concept ever.

The first being that formula one inspired renault from the 90s.

Blah, it's even uglier than the Quest, though in it's defense it's older. The Quest Concept looks damn cool...too bad the production version didn't come out as nice.

If the Relay looked that good, it wouldnt've had to die.
