Cold Air Intake added to my MAXX SS

Featured Replies

Added a full cold air intake from the TB to the MAS and a K&N cone filter. It was designed for a G6, but with a few cuts and bracket changes, it now fits in the Malibu. Started at 7:30 this morning and finished with all cleanup at about 11:00.

And here is all the crap I gutted from the 'Bu including the crazy air box regulator which has two bladders that I guess is supposed to kill noise from the air...

Looking sharp! How does it sound?

To be honest, I took it for a ride and got into it a little and really did not notice much of a sound change at all, which, to be perfectly honest, is fine by me.

Well, I did it (just like on my Z28) more to allow the car to breathe better than to boast a HP increase. After taking a look at the restrictive and crazy systems that automakers put in their cars, the first thing I like to do is allow the engine to breathe. Figure a CAI can add 5-10 hp maybe. As far as gas mileage, I have no idea, since that is not the desired effect of the change. I'll keep an eye on the DIC for the next few weeks and let you know if I see a change.

You mean it doesn't moan like a Quadrajet on top of a 455 with the air cleaner top flipped in a '74 Grandville?

It looks very professional.
