January 4, 200719 yr The Cobalt was part of the '06 COTY competition, as they weren't available in time for the MT cutoff. The Tundra will win next year's contest. Of course it will, it still is a scam, haven't you noticed that TOTY is spelled TOYoTa Motor Trend has this all figured out, they think that they can fool us by giving the Silverado the award this year will hide their bias (come on the competiton was three other GMT-900's and a forgotton stepsister to the Explorer that was originally based on the mostly dead Ranger) this was a gimme to cover up their screw up with COTY, which let a BORING well built, non-innovative, high selling bar of soap win the award, the TOTY article was buried behind the most important people in the auto industry article (Number 1 was the head of Toyota by the way) for crisssakes. January 4, 200719 yr It's just a magazine guys. The Ridgeline got TOTY and I wouldn't be caught dead driving that toy. Matter of fact I wouldn't buy a Japanese truck even if it was voted 10x better than everything else out there, and especially not because a magazine says so. The Japanese auto makers will never understand what gets the true blue American truck buyer hot and bothered. At least not this one.
January 4, 200719 yr Yeah, winning the TOTY award is pretty meaningless at this point. After all, they compared it to a GMC, Cadillac, Avalanche, and a Sport Trac??? The article sucked, the competition was ridiculous and I agree they would have picked the tundra, had it been in the list, just because they favor toyota so much. Doesn't matter....with every dumb move they make, they show us how irrelevant they are. I'll bet anyone a quarter that the precious little tundra will be on the list next year and will win. I'll bet another quarter that it won't be compared to the tacoma.
January 12, 200719 yr Hmmm there was the crew cab gold Tundra and I had no Silverado to compare it too, so I made one... Is it a good chop? The long bed and crew cab Silverado still look better than the ugly Toyota. I thought I did a good job actually.
