So, I'm thinking radical thoughts

Featured Replies

Such as :

Using "no-reserve" auctions to sell off the fleet

A change of occupation

Re-location

Having just one vehicle for a while

Selling off my garage full of tools and equiptment

Other radical notions are crossing my mind as well.

Don't use no reserve for the Hawks if you can help it. Judging by the comments from your last auction, the average Ebayer won't know a collector vehicle if he got run over by one. Did you ever try the DuPont Registry. I really think something like that would be your best bet.

I won't be using Ebay for the cars. There is a collector car auction in Atlantic City in February and that would be where I would auction the cars.

Dude.... do NOT get rid of your tools... whatever you do tools are sacred.

If it was me, as far as the hawks I'd put one of them on ice and call it my

retirementn fund. Just stuff it into the corner of the garage and pretend it

does not exist. Stabil for the fuel, remove the battery, put jacks under

the car's four corners and some moth balls under the seat.

Lots of people got bored of thier low milage COPO 69 Camaros back in the

mid 1970s and sold them off for $1000 - $3000, must kind of hurt now in

2006 when they'd be worth at least ten times that. Even after inflation and

storage hassles the best thing to do with the Hawks is keep 'em, at least

ONE of them.

You remember how many tools are in my garage, right? I think I could pare all of that down quite a bit. I'm feeling limited in my choices simply because I have so much stuff that would have to move with me if I were to move. Hell, even those industrial shelves are mine. Next to nothing in that barn belongs to anyone else.

As far as keeping one of the Hawks goes: It might be possible if the other cars go.

Just out of curiosity, what is the motivation for these potential radical thoughts?

Financial necessity and frustration with the status quo. I need to make some changes and I'm feeling cornered, which makes me nuts.

i hope everything works out for you man, from what ive seen, you have quite a collection of cars... if i actually had the money, id buy a Hawk from you in a second flat!... i agree with the idea that if you can, keep at least one

Camino, if I had the money, I'd buy your GTO in a heartbeat. But I couldn't swing the payments (unless you take $1200 for it, I could do that). Maybe in a year or so after I find a job.

Whatever happens, good luck to you, sir. You're a lucky guy for getting to know those cars.

What a great way of looking at the situation - thanks for that.

Add 4k and it's yours. ( Less than half of what I have in it)

Pick and choose your options wisely. You know the variables better than we do. Wow, sounds like quite a list. I, myself, will have both an occupational change and a relocation in 2007, so I'm stressed just thinking about it.

A change of occupation

Re-location

Those two are on my mind as well (I hate feeling cornered too): 'Relocation' is decided for mid-2008 (might happen sooner) and 'change of occupation' will most certainly happen as a consequence.

Think about what skills you need in order to get the job you want, get some training if needed, and most of all try to make things as stress-free as possible.
