I'm trying out a new camera that was a Christmas gift and I can't figure out how to set the res on it.

That's the G6 that replaced our Impala in all of its rental-car-silver glory. (Seriously, though, it is a pretty nice car.) I was trying out a camera I got as a surprise Christmas gift myself. It was actually a decent camera (a 5.0 Megapixel Sanyo model with zoom, 5 or 6 different modes, and auto-flash that only cost $80 bucks) and it took really nice photos . . . until it broke.

I'm going for a nice Kodak model to replace it.

This is a Kodak Z710 and I can't even find any mention of resolution settings in the rather thin manual.

My broken HP came with a freakin novel for a manual.

The starkness of the setting (deciduous trees) makes for a great backdrop and brings out the cars. Go for even spacing between the cars (I'm anal retentive) and get a little closer, still showing a lot of the grass in the foreground. As was said before, sharper resolution would be helpful. Cool idea for a pic.

It was just a 5 minute setup. I have some pics from other angles that work better spacing-wise. It also looks better as a full-size pic. As for the res, I have to figure that out (so far no luck).

BTW: This is my backyard.

Try looking for a Canon PowerShot. Those take much better photos as they have a glass lens rather than a plastic one as the Kodak's do. Plus you can adjust the resolution much easier than with Kodak.

The only resolution settings you get for the Kodak is picture quality. One star up to 4 stars I do believe. That adjusts everything in one fell swoop. Not very customizable for simplicity's sake. Kodak's are the most user friendly, but are limited in their adjustments for the same reason.
