Like just about everyone else here, I have a soft spot for the G-body coupes of the 80s - especially the Cutlass and Regal. We owned a 1984 Cutlass Calais, a 1985 Cutlass Supreme, a 1981 Regal, and a 1986 GP. If I didn't live in salt-n-sand country I'd pick this thing up right now.

Like very few here, I happen to be somewhat loathe to the old G-body coupes of yore.

This thing would be a great pick for some gold wire wheels or hubcaps, and for blasting NWA and Flava-Flav!

Wow... I'm in love... the Buicks were the best looking of the G-bodys from this era, but that's

like saying you prefer a particular playboy bunny over another... even your least favorite is

an absolute knockout.

I hope whoever buys it leaves it bone stock...too many of these cars have met some extremely tacky fates. It's rare to see a stock G-body in good shape like this.

Agreed, Mustang. BTW, that sweet little Malibu in your sig seems to have a '78 front end and '80 taillights. I still love it though.

Now, here's what you don't really see anymore (at least I don't)...Grand Prixs from that era. I see Cutlasses, Regals, and Monte Carlos everywhere, but I've only seen two of these in my life (and only '81-'87, never have seen a '78-80)

Very nice example. The only thing for me would be the engine it has. Seen too many of these early 231s blow up. It wasnt until 1986 that they actually started making something of these engines. Still if you drove it like I do the Bonneville which is about 2000 miles a year it should last a while. Lets hope that whoever buys this doesnt ruin it by putting 30 inch tires and pimping it out or driving it through winters.

On our first date my girlfriend Marcia told me that the coolest car she

ever owned was not her 1984 Firebird, or her 1978 Trans Am, but a

1986 Grand Prix with a CBB 454 with two tanks of NOS in the trunk.

She had some fun times in it... then she got it impounded after the

speeding/drag racing/burnout citations added up and the end result

was that she never got enough money together to get it out of the

police impound in time.

I almost bought a GORGEOUS 99% mint 1986 GP myself a few years

back... it has "S10 eXtreme" rims and factory t-tops... burgundy

paint and a rebuilt 305. Gorgeous car.

When the G-bodies died so did most of my interest in GM products. What followed were some very dark days with only a few bright spots for way too long. The way I see it, GM still has some work to do on that comeback trail. Other than F-bodies,Vette,ImpalaSS, and trucks, GM became a wasteland of forgetable FWD blandness - truly the bad old days. Abandoning the g-bodies was probably the single worst decision GM has ever made.
