GMX/T PLATFORM

Featured Replies

Zeta version 2.0 due out 2013. For the plus-size zetas.

It will be the basis for the new Impala (LS2), GTO (400 horsepower Northstar 5.1L), Chevelle SS (LS7), Skylark (LS8)

& Regal Grand National (twin-turbo 3800). The smaller Zeta 1.0 wil underpin the Camaro, Grand Prix & Firebird T/A.

Also I have a bridge to sell you in Winslow Arizona. :P

honestly I have NO idea WTH that is.

Well GMX-001 is the Cobalt and GMT-001 is the HHR, but I'm not sure what LNF is.

Well if T is the GM Europe code, could it be an Astra?

T is the truck code, hence GMT900, GMT355...

The Astra is on an update T-body but it likely has its own GMX code as well.

LNF . . . I think that might be an engine code. Turbo engine? Not sure. But my gut tells me that is an engine code.

LNF 2.0L turbo ecotec (Soltice GXP Sky Redline future Cobalt SS)

Oh, duh. Thanks for clearing that up.

Or is it for new versions of Chevy Laguna, Buick Apollo, Pontiac Star Chief , or the new sub brand for GMC, "OldsCutlass"?

Well if T is the GM Europe code, could it be an Astra?

You're thinking of the old Astra VIN code. It designates a related production series, not an actual platform. Every manufacturer uses them, but not everyone uses a single designation for one model, or updates them with each model change. Daewoo generally inherited it's letter designations from GM Europe, ut the platforms may now be completely different. GM Europe's product development codes are actually in the form of GM4400, GM2900, GM3200 etc, although you may also see tham as J2900, Z3200, A3300, T3000. Like most manufacturers GM rarely changes the VIN letter for the model even if the platform is completely different. Thus everything from the Original Isuzu Aska, Opel Ascona and Chevy Cavalier through the previous Vectra and 9-3 to the current Chevrolet Optra is a J-body, the original fwd Opel Kadett through to the current Chevy Aveo is a T-body, from the Opel Rekord through to the latest Holden Commodore, but also the fwd Daewoo Tosca/Chevrolet Epica is a V-body.

Current GM VIN codes are:

D-CTS, DTS

M-Solstice, Sky

Y-corvette and XLR

X-Corsa, Tigra, Combo

T-Aveo

J-Optra

K-DTS

H-Lucerne

E-SRX, 9-5

F-9-3

A-cobalt, Ion, Astra, Zafira, Chevrolet Vectra

V-GTO, Epica, Commodore

W-Caprice, Statesman, LaCrosse, Regal, Impala, Grand Prix

Z-Vectra, Signum, Aura, Malibu, G6

L-Vue, Equinox, Torrent

C-Captiva, Antara

U-fwd mpv

When I read Regal Grand National (twin-turbo 3800) Turbo I was seriously going to violently masturbate. But I guess that's a joke.

:alcoholic::gmc:

COBALT SS TURBO? sans supercharger?

Beats me too!

Oh, duh. Thanks for clearing that up.

What a 260hp Direct Injection Cobalt, oh man that sounds sweet it wasn't that long ago that the best the Corvette could do was 250hp.
