Something Funny, but not so

All right, so I'm cruising around tonight in the truck, blowing off some steam after being at work and leaving from the hospital visiting the little girl and wife in while the little girl cooks for a little while under the lights (she has Jaundice). I'm on the interstate, cruising at about 65, relatively light traffic. A StumpJumper (Ford Crown Victoria with 24" + wheels on it so it now has 2-ft ground clearance) blows past me like I'm sitting still. I decide to follow him to see where the fire is, crank down on the pedal, throw it into 2nd and listen to the quad exhaust pipes thunder (if only I'd finally done the flame thrower kit for the pipes it woulda been a hell of a sight), as I catch up to him I notice a little smoke coming from the right front tire area. I try to flag the guy down, flash my lights at him everything. Nothing happens at all for a moment, then a bright flash of fire and I see a nice, pretty chrome 26 depart from its spindle and lug nut mounting surface and go on walkabout. What happened next wasn't exactly pretty but it could have been worse. The car augers into the pavement and goes for a skid, at least the driver knew how to handle himself because it didn't switch ends and the traffic was light enough so he only took himself out. I jump on the CB (yes, I have one, and I know how to use it, and sometimes its a hell of a lot better to use than a cell phone) and get police and fire officials rolling and pull in behind to render assistance. Thankfully no one's hurt except for pride and maybe some soiled undies. The guy driving the car asks me to help him go get his rim which has rolled about 100, 120 yards past him down the interstate and finally stopped. I start heading that way and get back, by then the cops were there and he was explaining what happened. He heard the bearings starting to roar and figured if he drove the car faster, he'd make it home faster and be able to get the problem fixed.....not exactly smart thinking, but I give him an A for effort and honesty).

I'm imagining a P71 Crown Vic with 24" rims, so its even funnier.

Wow. I'm glad I wasn't there. I'd probably do the same as you, but not notice it and freak out when they spin out. :P

Pretty funny story. Glad no one was hurt but serves him right for putting such stupid wheels on any car. :P

You can say that again, like the Caprice that came into day with the broken axle, hit a pothole at 60mph, broke the axle.....
