Toyota open to Ford alliance, if asked

Featured Replies

Toyota would consider a partnership with Ford if approached by the U.S. automaker, Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe told Japan's Nikkei business daily. Such an alliance would focus on developing and sharing technologies, he said.

I think that the sharing of technology would benefit both companies.

As long as the alliance isn't a buyout, I really don't care. Ford needs all the help it can get right now.

Ford could take advantage of Toyota's supreme PR department. They can make any mess sound good! And they can sell bland cars like hotcakes...just what Ford needs!

I saw a Tundra pull an F-150 put of a ditch the other day. Foreshadowing?

Hypothetically speaking...what would you all be saying if it was GM instead of Ford?

Well, Ford is in a much tighter spot than GM. If it was either Toyota helping GM or GM dying, I'd vote Toyota helping GM.

Ford doesn't want Toyota's quality problems.

Ouch! :AH-HA_wink:

Fords doing badly, and Toyota knows it. Sounds to me like a way for em to get the foot in the door and counts Fords sales in with Toyota's sales to push em to the #1 spot.
