I need some help, ASAP. My computer is acting really, really funny right now.

Alright, when you usually open a program, you get a bar that appears in the taskbar that has the program name. Here's my problem: that isn't showing up anymore. Period. And when I hit minimize on accident, I usually have to open the program up again and start from scratch on what I'm doing.

Any help?

whats your address? I will mail you somthing thats like clay and is big as a stick a butter. set it on the computer. take a 9V battey and have 2 wires come out of the stick get far away connect the two wires to the battery.

When did this start happening? and what OS are you running on? If you've got MS 2000 or XP you can try System Restore and restore it to a point before this started happening.

f@#k COMPUTERS! f@#k THEM!

Goddammit. Now the whole f@#king taskbar is gone.

I'll try System Restore. If that doesn't work, I'll chuck this f@#king HP right out my window.

Mine does that sometimes...no idea why.

I also have no idea why it likes to randomly restart itself at times, either.

Macs are looking better all the time. I want to give Vista a shot first, though.

System Restore worked.

But it:

  • Made my Firefox theme vanish right into thin air.
  • Put a bunch of stuff I deleted from my computer back onto my computer.
  • Cleared my cache.

Guess that's normal. Inconvenient, though.

Vista has bugs in it that won't be fixed in time for launched, supposedly Windows Update will fix them so the consumer never knows. I've heard nothing good about Vista from people who've tried it.

That's what system restore does. I'm guess the theme you were using you got or applied after teh restore point, so you'll have to redo that. Cache is easy to clear, and deleteing isn't so bad...just be careful what you delete.

I built my PC (this is my 2nd build), and it the most awesome thing I've ever used. It blows the G5's at school away, and my old comp too. It's also super stable and it has never crashed on me. The only issues I've had was a plugin I got for Firefox made the browser crash, but I got rid of it so no worries.

That's what system restore does.

Know that now, don't I? :P

I sort of figured it would, though. (This is the first time I've done a partial restore. I had to do full restores on my old HP Pavilion a lot when I had it, so, yeah I kind of thought that I would lose something. I just didn't expect my browser to be a part of it.) :D It might not have if I restored it to some point in January, though (I chose to reset the system to 12/26/2006).

Yup. Obviously. :D

To be honest, I can't remember when I installed that skin. I was thinking it was earlier than December, but I guess not.
