MINI Cooper D

Featured Replies

Not relevant to NA, but interesting news: new MINI Cooper Diesel presented. Click http://www.motoringfile.com/2007/01/16/min...d-now-official/ for the article.

I sat on a brand new Cooper S last monday when I was waiting for my '04 One D: materials aren't much better, but (to me) it looks like build quality is better than my car. Gaps between interior components seemed noticeably smaller and that might give it the better built look. I'm going to wait a few more years before I trade my car, but I have to say the MINI is one entertaining car to drive, so maybe this new Cooper D will end up being my next car.

EDIT: I think the MINI One will get a 'D' version with the 90hp PSA 1.6L diesel engine, which should be even more frugal.

Yeah, me too.... 64 mpg in a hadnsome and fun package.... or some

Toyota Queef edition Prius that can't even get 50 as a hybrid and is

ugly, boring & lame??? Gee I wonder whihc is going to last longer, a

diesel german car or a hybrid, overly-complex, needlessly

complicated Toyo-DUR wiht 47 batteries.

I agree with you totally on that one..

I would hit it... 64 MPG... 110 HP and ~180 ftlbs of torque... not too shabby

Then maybe they could come out with a BullyDog kit for it... :scratchchin:

Imperial gallons + European cycle = nowhere near that MPG in real-world US driving

I would still get good mileage and have torque out the wazoo, comparatively speaking.

Especially when one stops to think that is is a small car, so any good torque or power rating makes it fun! It's all about the fun!

Why the hell does GM not offer a Diesel Cobalt? WTF?

Probably people remember the olds diesels of the late 70's-early 80's.

Seriously, a diesel Cobalt would be a kick ass car.

VW is eventually offering a diesel Jetta—you can't get a new one anymore until they can get the emissions sorted.

My bad - the article I read did not have a date, it just said they VW would introduce a Bluetec diesel in the US. I assumed they had made further progress re the engines' certification.

Let's start a petition to get GM off its arse and

give us some diesels here in the USA. Just

make DAAAAAMN sure they do not have any

of the problems the 80s did, easy enough

since GM has some kick-butt diesels overseas.
